Same here, been told it's likely be September before they think about collecting them so we may not see them emptied this year.

It runs OK but there's no room to keep it when the new one arrives. Apparently parts are still available and are compatible with other machines in the series. :noidea:

I hope our council don't stop collecting the garden waste as the last time they altered the rules and started charging (it was free - and reverted to free) people were dumping green waste on grass verges and in hedgerows. We live in a very rural area so that's easy for people to do. Some were even dumping it in ditches. :hate-shocked:

Given the weather: Bright, cold with a strong NNE all day. Max 8°C not a lot. Will be in the greenhouse later, seed sowing and pricking out. Then bring the tomatoes and peppers in for the night.

Yesterday Mr Snorky and myself dug another trench in the front garden to plant more of the pleached hedging. We got the left corner done now but oh my it was hard work. the ground was basically rubble and clay. Good job we've got a super duper pick axe and shovels etc. Mr Snorky is used to building mountain bike trails so he's a dab hand at digging luckily.

It was extremely hard to get the stakes in despite digging it over and digging in a tonne of soil conditioner. The tree on the end looks a little wonky but that's the frame and the tree trunk itself is straight. Once it all grows and bushes up it will be fine.

We also found a little shetland pony shoe whilst digging - very cute! I'm going to clean it up and hang it in the house (our house is called the Stable House). Hope it is a sign of good luck for us.

Went out to the greenhouse really early this morning and planted out the tray of pink cosmos which had got their set of true leaves. That finished off a bag of jacks magic. I've got one bag of it left now to last me til ??? My nicotiana seeds have sprouted well. When should i split them up or prick them out etc?

hee hee, I’ve often thought we were the unstable house at times. The nutters called their house “the council house” with their big yellow 6ftx6ft sign. Can u believe with all this going on weve had yet more incidents with them. The one who swears at me and shouts out the window actually intercepted a delivery for us. I said thank you to her as she passed it out the window (i was not pleased she took it at all, also shocked she did, esp with the social distancing rules) but it enabled her to start a rant at me...just turned my back and walk away. Then our nice next door neighbour came to collect something we’d left out the back of our garage-the two nutcase households come out shouting “go on f*** off! F*** off our land!” At our neighbour!!! Weird! My husband heard it from our back garden.

Honestly-in times like these they can’t even be the slightest bit civil. Absolute madness! Hoping we get our carport approved asap.

Yes that's what we are dreading too, in the not too distant past we've had plenty of green waste. Also had the contents of someone's greenhouse clearance, a box of baby clothes and toys, old garden furniture, a settee ,a bath, sink and toilet and last but not least a burnt out car!!

Absolutely dreading it!! Makes my blood boil!!

Finally got into the greenhouse, and sowed all my tomatoes, some leeks, some lettuce (outside) and spinach (outside). Let the games commence!

I potted up another 20 or so seedlings from soil blocks into small pots or medium ones that will be their final destination. Some went out to the greenhouse and others went back down to the cellar before the lights went out.

I'm thrilled that I've got three healthy rosemary seedlings plus a runt. I didn't think I would be successful with those.

Potted up peppermint, Minette basil, easter egg plants, osteospermum, and a couple more annuals.

And there's still 3 episodes of my show to go! Love listening to Corrie while puttering :)

Well, not exactly "in" the garden yet, but the planning is done at least (and I ordered all my soil/compost in bulk for the summer, given my local gardening center is closed for the foreseable future).

I was not planning on being outside today - it’s cold, with a bitter northerly wind, and occasional snow squall.

However, there has just been a sprint up to the raised beds, to grab the cover from one of the poly-cloches, which had been taken off the frame, before the wind got hold of it again, and took it across the valley. #timelycuppa!

If it runs, and the compression is OK on it, it could be a nice wee project for someone to tinker with - maybe sell it on ebay?
