Completed the new foldable greenhouse staging. All made from timber I had from other projects. 2x2 treated frame was from when I built the chicken run. Slats were from old shelving in the garage. I ripped them down on table saw and rounded over with router.

I have another foldable bench, but is a pain to move in and out. When I need the space I can just fold it down. 76381CF2-79D0-448D-8613-9B2DDD1FF251.jpeg 2227B45D-3EDF-496E-A4E7-EE6E6881671D.jpeg

@rustyroots that is fantastic! I landed up putting in racking near the floor because the chilies that stay in there grow to 5 or so feet and I need loads of space until the last frost passes. So there is a lot of bending for me until things can get planted out. Wow. Absolute genius!!!!

Let me add a photo of how cramped and low down is it for me today.

Planted some potatoes with my kid and finished a new raised bed.
Made one of my mini greenhouses completely slug proof, or so I hope..
If it works I will do the same with the other one, and use them to grow a few things which I never manage to grow outdoor (peppers mainly).

The tiger mottled slimies destroyed my only Marina di Chioggia, along with a californian cucumber I was fond of.
Actually I am really surprised how well the seeds I bought in California germinated, considered the climate differences. We visited one of my wife's aunties over Christmas and she had tomatoes fruiting outdoor on her patio! I wonder what is like to enjoy that kind of never ending warm season.
Anyway, both the USA cucumbers and the pumpkins germinated well, so I hold some hope for a few more seeds I got from there (peppers and some sort of radish).
Now I just finished seeding string beans in the propagator.

Mrs Shiney has been busy with the propagating etc. whilst I get on with the heavier jobs. I was allowed to get back to doing the mowing :blue thumb: and shall carry on with that today.

At the moment nothing is neat in the greenhouse, propagating areas or nursery beds.

A couple of hundred runner beans are coming along with another 200 sown two days ago and a further 200 to be sown next week.

A couple of cobaea are doing well and another dozen, or so, are just coming on in the propagator.

In the large pots are Calla Lilies (Mango)

            Eucomis

Sweet peas are dotted around everywhere as are the neat pots of Salvia turkistanica

            Lots of other plants

A lot of others, some of which have been tidied up and others are waiting to be tidied or repotted.

I also want to make use of the space in the borders of the GH to try and over winter some lettuce etc or get some early lettuce in. With the other potting table, there is a bottom shelf that doesn’t allow for this area to be used, which was another factor for this folding table.

When does proper summer start in Ontario?
Is the growing season very short or perhaps you enjoy a long autumn before the frost?

Nearly +20, gentle breeze. I focused on holding the back bench down so that it will not suddenly blow away. Had to increase the weight with a goblet of wine and a book. The best kind of gardening!

Lazily potted on the Chia Monsters and some chillies, admired the beauty of lush new growth of everything and planned the summer containers. A day off well spent :)
