Ok, I will remember that next time I feel like complaining about the weather here in London :D
It must be lots of work to grow has many plants as you do!

That reminds me of my first "Let's prune the blackberry bushes" session last month.
The second happened after receiving my rose gloves (gauntlets?) and it was much more relaxing, albeit less musical.

@Sheal Are you having new soakaways put in? The ceramic pipes in ours have cracked, probably due to age ( 60 years ) and tree roots.

@Selleri that is such a shame with your Blackbird chicks :cry3:.

Yesterday was lots more potting up etc. Mrs Shiney did three or four hours of it and I moved the trays of pots for her  I also carried the bags of compost to her :pathd:. A friend said she had some spare bags of compost so she got her son to put them on their front border and I picked them up.

We also had people coming round, two hours apart, to pick up runner bean plants and rhubarb (only let them have the beans if they have a greenhouse) and two people picking up a week's worth of dinners (we freeze them for them as well) as they can't cook for themselves. Shineyland's equivalent of Click and Collect :heehee:

Well we did have 28 trees taken out when we moved in, mostly conifers and found about 10 largish tree stumps scattered about

Bought a new rotating drum type shredder from Homebase this morning, so spent ten minutes putting that together then onto shredding up the remains of the loganberry and lavatera today, and learning that there is something gluey about lavatera that makes it stick to shredder parts like poo to a blanket. It may not have been my other shredder that was the problem, but rather the fact that we were putting lavatera through it.

We've just raked the rest into a bundle at one side for the time being, and then we will have to burn it.

Started the morning digging some well rotted chicken manure / glass cuttings compost into the veg patch. Despite years of digging them out, we seem to be growing stones as they just keep coming back. Sowed beetroot, radish, kale, spring onion and chard.
Split the Ensete maurelii into three plants. One in the ground, one in a pot and one sold. Planted Musa sikkimensis in the ground and plan to leave that in over winter with some protection.

Removed a grass from a large pot and broke the pot but its broke in a way that we can use it to make a succulent garden - glass half full and all that.

It looked like rain at lunchtime so I spread two sacks of weed & feed on the lawns. Then there was no sign of rain so I'm currently watering it in.

                      Glass cuttings compost?
Out of curiosity, what is that?

Not much today just a bit of deadheading the hyacinths and polyanthus then a lot more watering.

:love30: Most impressive, @luciusmaximus ! Whom are you planning to kill? ;)

Today it was mercifully overcast so I didn't feel guilty not going out much. Did an aphid round on Costus seedlings, can't get the good stuff anywhere online apart from Amazon, for over a tenner a bottle so Fairy washing up liquid it is.

Watered, organised and moped over my rescue orchid which has survived very nicely indeed, overbalancing all the time, and is now flowering- with ugliest flowers you can imagine. Maroon with some lime-ish green edging... possibly it was 70% reduced for a reason :heehee: I'll have to take some photos tomorrow.

I think it’s a typo and should be grass.

I think for "glass", Aldo, read "grass" as it's a typing error by andrews.............I'm guilty of doing that quite a lot when typing in a hurry!!:dunno::doh::heehee:

Of course you must be right, how silly, that was a bit dumb of me
