Earlier, I mowed the back lawn even though it was already ok. Then surveryed the whole back garden and despaired at the state of it, with slug nibbled plants in the borders, general mess.

Later this morning I'll be out there preparing for my first major barbie since we bought the place just over 2 years ago. All the guests have seen the garden several times, yet somehow, because its the first major barbie here, it somehow feels like the grand opening and I'm actually nervous as hell about it.

Sounds like a bit of stage fright Clueless and those on the stage usually say it's a good omen to feel nervous. I'm sure you will be fine, the barbie will be fine and your guests probably won't even notice the garden. Enjoy it! :)

Did some seed collecting yesterday (including some from the wonderful Blue Pea and the Lychnis Vesuvius) and a touch of weeding, too warm for anything else..............so no more wood work done :heehee:

Bilbo, my Blue pea display was quite short lived - was yours?. I tried to ensure that I didn't allow pods to form but it was so dense, I'm sure I missed some and therefore it packed up.:noidea:

Hi Jenny, yes they were quite short lived, I did purposely leave some seed on so I would have some for next year but dead headed the rest. I also kept well watered, but in the end it started withering away and got mildew so I collected the seed yesterday and chopped it up and composted it :)

I've been to B&Q and bought some planters, then potted up a couple of azaleas. Probably not gonna do much more gardening wise (might mow the lawn later) but I do need to do some repairs on my flat roof. Not doing it yet though because the Clampetts behind me have got their outside speakers on again so it's too noisy :wallbanging:
