I am looking for some Radox, and Deep Heat, almost seized up

I do not know why I always job and finish as I am retired and have all day
everyday to do things, but it is the way I have always been

(Forces I suppose, you can not knock off for tea during a battle :-) OR
Stop making soup for the natives when Monseratt erupted, Stop looking
for kids Aberfan, you just want to go on and on until the last turf is turned

I was the same moving the shed and Greenhouse but that took two days
due to the concrete base I forgot I had laid the shed on originally

    Thanks all

    Jack McH

I'm the same jack, once I get a bee in my bonnet. It's got to be done end of. :snork:
Moved all 3 cannas into the GH.
Picked a few of the last remaining toms.
          Turned over the compost bins.
That's it then started lashings down AGAIN!

Well, I'm not off work until Thursday so things will have to wait until then. So the first thing will be to walk around the garden a few times with a sit here and there, with a mug of tea, to get a proper look at what needs doing. I've learnt that doing a job here and there without having a good look at what really needs sorting gets you going back again and again for stuff you missed. I won't move the Canna's, Palms and Bananas indoors until I get a weather warning of proper frost.....because once they've been moved my back will protest too much to put them back out again:heehee:

Cleared away all my tomato plants yesterday, now have a pile of toms inside; mainly green but also some yellow/orange ones....ohhh what to do with them :heehee:, already made a load of chutney :snork:, could make some more I suppose considering the last lot went down so well with my family last weekend it went back up the M6 with them :heehee::biggrin:

Also started to clean out fallen leaves and anything that's going to attract mold from the greenhouse, next stop put in the bubble wrap to insulate it a bit more..:)

I've also got to get my little fence finished....fingers crossed for a couple of dryish days :heehee::biggrin:

Yesterday I cleared away all my beans on the Shiney Frame and put them on the bonfire heap. I had a superb crop this year but all the plants ended up covered in tiny black spots. Could have been some sort of fungus :dbgrtmb:. My later plantings are still in and look as though they may last at least another week.

                Today - Nowt!

Planted my Garlic and continued clearing away all the annuals from the new border. Turned the compost heap aswell, it is absolutely chockablock with worms aswell.

Upped all the summer bedding apart from the dahlias.
Dug over the borders ready for the bulbs and wall flowers
Garden looks bare now just autumn leafs for colour :cry3:

From now onwards, through autumn and winter, our garden needs more work than spring and summer. With all the clearing and tidying up, digging, shifting compost, pruning trees and clearing dead parts, maintenance work etc we need regular help to do it - a lot of it is too heavy for my back . We now have a new gardener that will work through the winter - I don't work when it's raining or very cold :heehee:.

If the wind isn't too strong today I shall have a giant bonfire. :dbgrtmb:

Today I am going to B&Q to buy some slabs to finish the path across the lawn (just laying them out like stepping stones) and to get some temporary fencing to fence it all off (I keep the dogs off it in the winter otherwise it turns into a quagmire).

I may also deadhead some roses.

Had the bonfire Thursday and it was very cheery. I then mowed all the back garden including what was left to do of the knee high wild area. Did nothing Friday as I was knackered! :heehee:

Preparing the bonfire took longer than burning it. The first job is to rattle the heap quite vigorously to chase out hibernating hedgehogs (was a little too early in the season for them) and the field mice (about a dozen shot out). One year I had done the same and then, during the conflagration, a load of rabbits came flying out. Frightened the life out of me!

Strategically placing the paper to take account of the wind direction and then trying to get my starter paper alight is all part of the fun. As it was windy it was extremely dificult to keep a match alight long enough to light the starter paper and then there was the problem of keeping the starter paper alight until it had caught properly. I used my trusty old method of turning a wheelbarrow on its side, close to the fire, and holding the matches and paper inside the wind protected area :blue thumb:

                          P1130947.JPG

                          Five minutes later
                          P1130954.JPG

Three and a half minutes later it's almost done and I can leave it to burn down whilst I go and mow.

Potted up some poorly looking phlox( rabbit damage) ,took Diascia and fuchsia cuttings, stripped most of the rest of the tomato leaves off. Sowed winter greens, mizuna etc and lettuce. Collected seeds from nicandra, mallow, verbascum. Rescued some healthy looking penstemons from local shop for 50p each.
Today I will prepare the garlic bed and make room for a few more asparagus crowns ordered last week, and tie up a few endives for blanching. And order a few more seeds for the poly. And prepare for a row of broadies to overwinter. Need a cup of tea now!
