Well the border clearance has begun.
Out with weeds and down with the shrubs.
Bramble and Bind weed begone from my patch.
So sticky is this that I had to come in with half the garden in tow on me wellies.
Still another day tomorrow to get to grips with this garden before next weeks rain and wind to over come.

Cut down a tree, which in the past had been badly done. Now it looks a lot better.

Tidied up some leaves from the lawn, and beds, picked off last of bean seed pods to dry in shed.

Raked up some of the leaves to put in my trough to set for my beans next year.

Cut back my Cosmos Alba, collected seeds to dry out.

All rubbish collected and put into wheelie bin for collection tomorrow.

Swept up. Indoors now for a lovely cold coffee frappe. Watching Flog It.

Filled two wheelie bins with vegitation not suitable for compost heaps, put other stuff not suitable onto bonfire (now 4ft high and nearly ready for the torch) and mowed four lawns. The mowing also chops up leaves nicely for composting. The leaves filled an area 5ft x 3ft x 3ft high but they'll start to go down pretty quickly. We've been cutting back sedums and crocosmia and are still working on making the laurel bushes smaller.

Does crocosmia need cutting down, shiney?

Flowering stems should be cut back this time of year. We also remove dead leaves and cut the others halfway back to stop them drooping all over the beds - we have rather large bunches of them (one lot is 15ft x 3ft). You should leave the foliage on (ours is cut down to approx 2.5ft) to protect the corms and cut the leaves back in spring - usually around March. Over the winter they will turn brown and flop around but, in small clumps, it doesn't matter.

As we have so much to do in the garden we tend to get things done as we come across them.

Did not do anything today...........what a lazy mare...:heehee:

Tomorrow, I am going to cut down my Mahonia, it's taking
the light out of my garage, :oopss:.

My Buddleia is too tall for the winter, so, am going to cut that back. :redx:.

I really should pull up some spinach, cabbage, and lettuce.

The blessed trees are still shedding, bless 'em, so that should be raked up, oh, my list seems to go on and on. :psnp:

Finished pressure washing the paths between the raised beds I started yesterday.
Remember "Ground in dirt"? I was amazed how brighter flagstones and concrete were without a covering of muck / soil.

Hopefully the paths will be safer to walk on when the frosty weather comes along.

            Cheers, Tony.

I've got about 180 Tulips to plant along with just over a hundred Daffs that I forgot I had. The trouble will be finding a spot where there isn't already bulbs buried in the borders.:heehee: So I'm off to do it now before the rain arrives.

Pulled lots of spinach for my lunch, forgot I had some parsnips next to them, no much there, but enough for a good amount of soup to put in freezer. :stirpot:

Lots of drizzle today, so I am not going to do much else, got to get things ready for a Christmas bazaar on Saturday.

Moved 12 Penstemons and 2 big clumps of Eryssium with great clods of soil around them, knee deep in muck and bullets but it'll look good next summer!
Still have loads to do but it's been drizzling all morning and I've quit for the day.
