Baltic here so been staggering about with huge lumps of wood carrying them to the log splitter. This keeping a wood burning stove supplied is warm work, hardly need the stove!

I've just turned 3 pallets into kindling. Far too cold to even think out of outdoor gardening. I've come indoors to warm my hands before going back outside to cut logs.

When it starts getting dark we'll be off to get some more of the local dead trees......

Laid out some hose for some paths through an area planned for Hydrangeas.

Sun was shining ... but that was bracing enough!

Cut down the the last of the conifers. It was the mother of all conifers with a 2 foot diameter trunk, I NEVER want to do that again!

I ventured outside to plant the last of my roses, just one. Spotted a Geum and Dianthus coming into bloom again.

That's all the pots and trays washed dried and put away ready for the new season.
Ground is now to soggy for digging, so will have to wait until it has dried out a bit.
Just a few leaves to clear and then brush the path.
A large mug of tea sits and cools before putting that away.

Finished planting the tulips today 100 bulbs in. Not sure what there going to look like though as all the bulbs had fell out of the individual paper bags and mixed together. We will have to wait and see in the spring.

You'll probably find out that was the best way to plant them, Rusty:snork:

I've got two climbing roses that I was supposed to find homes for today (they are sat in their wee bags outside waiting for me), but after my acrobatics this morning going bum over tit, I am sat with my left arm propped up, a swollen shoulder, a sore left leg and having to take anti-inflammatories and pain killers!

They say these things come in threes, so this being my second in as many weeks, I am dreading the third!

I think I should stay in bed from now on - I managed to do my impression of a 'coupit yow' (upturned ewe) before 7 am this morning; my neighbour must have wondered what was going on with the yelp, and then the gob-full of expletives that followed the thunk.

More importantly, how long will my bare root roses be happy in their wee bags until I plant them?

I'm sure Woo would tell you - as long as they are not in a frost pocket and can remian damp at the roots, and are not in daylight, they will be OK for a week or so. They can wait until you are bodily well again FC,
                            take care,
                            by the way...

Ah, they are in daylight - I'll move them in the morning, thanks Jenny :)

No Bacardi I'm afraid - need to stay sober as I am at work early in the mornings; thankfully, I have the use of a really nice, supportive chair this week as I am camping in someone else's office whilst my new one is built.
