Me too. I have a Notepad file permanently open on my PC. Everytime I see mention of a plant that I fancy I add details, and a LINK etc.

The document is ... rather long ... :)

I'm planning a slight change of direction with mine - this year has been quite successful (in fact, very successful given that the lot was home raised from seed), but I just feel that there are some bits 'missing'.

A bit more planning, lots of bugging fellow GC'ers for advice and opinions, and hopefully great growing weather next year, and who knows?

You have set us all a petty high benchmark FC, but there are so many great plants that I keep seeing in the Looking Good posts.....

The standard of everyone's gardens on here is really high Jenny - part of the reason that I keep getting more and more ideas as to how to make my own one better too!

I had a really nice chat with the chap across the road from me this afternoon - lovely man, lives on his own now although his daughter and son in law are just round the corner in the next street; he gave me a real compliment, and said that he enjoyed looking out of his bedroom window in the morning to see my baskets in the morning sun glowing back at him. That is one of the things that makes it all worthwhile for me - its nice to have the garden in the street that gets talked about, and in a positive way too; no-one has said anything, but I get the impression that there was some apprehension among the neighbours when the 'To Let' sign went up at our house, and to be fair I don't blame them having seen the way that a lot of tenants simply don't look after places.

Phew it's hot and muggy out there :thud:

I've mown the lawn and pulled some heavy planters about to reposition them.

          Very muggy!

I bought a new bench this morning as the other had broke, so put that together and planted some more arundo donax. Watered the tubs and baskets, deadheaded and just got back from taking mrs al's car to the car wash.

Are they waterproof sockets? Bit hard to see in the photo - they look upside down - earth pin down-most? :)

It is going to be in cased in water proof housing.

              Fair enough :)

I have these in the greenhouse, and also at a couple of places on the outside of the house and near the pond. When a plug is plugged in the grommet around the snap-shut latch makes a water tight seal (as it does when there is no plug / cable present), which I think works very well.

My greenhouse has separate RCD (rather than relying on the one at the house end) and its own earthing rod (just mention that in case your Sparky has not considered them, and thus you might want to ask if it is necessary / sensible etc.)

I've got a similar set up the other end.

My Sparky said it was important to have the RCD and earth stake at the greenhouse end - but I can't remember what his reasoning was, but it seemed logical at the time he explained it to me! Anyways, you might just like to ask the question ... it could be complete overkill, or the fact that my greenhouse is miles (sort of!) from my house.

Wednesday I spent most of the day hand trimming the overgrown willow branches that were dangling down to the ground (tree is 50ft wide) and then cutting 200ft of privet that is 7ft+ high and 7ft+ wide. I managed to put all the willow cuttings on the bonfire heap but was too knackered to pick up the privet. So I left it for Mrs Shiney to do :heehee:
