    You could be right. I thought "A delegation" was the collective noun for Head Gardeners? :heehee:

        Just watering yesterday, with my new spray gun - well impressed, particularly with the 'bubbled stream' setting - for some reason this setting gets the water to soak into the soil/compost much more than the likes of the shower setting; the net result being that planters are getting more water soaking in rather than running off, and I am using less water.

        Also had to tie a sunflower up (just used garden wire to hold it back toward the fence behind it, so it was upright), as it had flopped over; I notice that I will have to do the same with another one today, as it has keeled over during the night.

        And today will see some seed gathering and sorting done - already made a start with the French marigolds :)

          Have just finished lifting my "dead" having flowered Cardocrinums and discovered the next generation (the bulbils) are not much bigger than peas!!Apart from the couple of bulbs which didn't flower this year and probably will next I am in for a long wait for this lot to get to flowering size. Not sure but maybe the very dry summer has been the reason the bulbils this year are tiny.

            Anglia Bulbs sell them. The ones I got were massive, but didn't flower first year - which I think is good as they should have developed decent roots and will probably flower next year. I don't think they would have had enough roots if they had flower the first year after planting.

              Got some bulbs today.
              15 tete a tete dwarf daffs
              10 iris 5purple 5yellow
              20 crocus 10purple 10yellow
              4 allium purple sensation
              50 allium drumstick (tiny bulbs?)
              99 bulbs in total for £5 :) so done a bit of planting

                I now have hundreds, nay thousands of French Marigold seeds, and an accumulating hoard of Malva Zebrina seeds, with African Marigold seeds rapidly following.

                No fellow GC member should pay for any of these seeds for next year, as they are only a PM away

                  I have quite a few of those - came free with This and That ... - I've gone off them and think that they are boring compared to the various other Aliums that I've got, so they are all coming up this Autumn.

                  I always grow 40 or 50 French ones for the greenhouse - in the hope that it keeps the whitefly at bay, so some French ones would be appreciated. If they will be in the seed parcel that will do me nicely :)

                  My hands are tingling from the stings of Nettles as I had to tie back the deliberately grown ones at the back of two of the borders ,which the wind had knocked sideways, for the Butterflies and Caterpillars. I wore gloves and long sleeved clothing but I had to tie the knots of the string and couldn't do it with gloves.....and paid the price:cry3:

                  Oh dear! That's a nuisance. :sad:

                  I have thin cotton gloves for doing that. I wear the thin cotton gloves for almost every job in the garden except when I use very heavy duty ones for roses, brambles and thistles. The only time I don't use gloves is for picking beans and fruit. I have to wear them for picking toms and courgettes because I'm allergic to the leaves.

                    Yesterday I finally got to the end of digging out the new herb bed! I then put the removed topsoil back in, and started on the task of moving the rubble up the garden, clearing it off the edge of the new bed, so that we can add the compost...
                    (convinced my arms are longer after carrying trug-loads of rubble - not the best day for the wheelbarrow to get a puncture!)

                      PM me your address @Kristen, and I will happily send you an envelope of seeds :) They are 'Boy-O-Boy' and 'Honeycomb Mixed' but for some reason they are all solid orange in colour - I actually prefer them though.

                      Great weather today and started early in the garden with a list that I wanted to do but at 9.15 got a call to say that my friends daughter (44) had died early this morning, so I couldn't face gardening. Picked a few flowers for a vase and then went to give some support.
