Rained all day yesterday which has given everything a good soak for the first time in ages.

I've just planted a couple of Malus Royalty - one in my top border and one in a 90L planter. I've also put a large Photinia in a 90L planter.

My back is complaining so I'm having coffee cake and tea to recover.

It's a hydrangea secret squirrel buzz word, Jenny - I cannot divulge, otherwise the 'village idiot' may hold me to ransom  Or, worse, will be hung, drawn and quartered under witchcraft charges :th scifD36:

Suffice to say *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* I'm reliably informed, successful hydrangea propagation is reliant on: "sausages" ;)

:mute: Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies :nonofinger: :mute:

Pah (@Kristen ): have ice cubes; will travel ;)

It's only until I get tell tale signs of "humidity" on the baggies, then they will be transferred to the "water butt patch" to overwinter :blue thumb:

I've Provado'd the rest of my Rhodos in tubs and planted 90 early double tulips plus sown some seeds (California Poppy 'Bridal Bouquet' and Linaria) which will hopefully germinate next summer. Got lots more seeds to plant next Spring and can't wait to have lots more colour in my garden next year :dancy:

Cutting back a big thorny bush, then trying to tie it back to the wall as it was previously allowed to grow and become too heavy & pulled itself away

Potted up 12 geum blazing sunset and 3 potentilla astrosangria and 3 lychnis Arkwright x Vesuvius.
Conifers desperately need a cut but need the ladders from work!
They don't block out any light though, they are facing north:)
                          Picked some more toms.
                          Planted some pansies into planters.

Harvested the last of the ripe tomatoes from the greenhouse, and also took off the green ones as the plants have all but had it - not convinced that its blight, as the death seems to be too slow for that, but they are clearly not going to get any better. Other than that, it was only some watering out the front and in the greenhouse, just before the heavens opened.

Spent the rest of the day in the kitchen - the first two big pots of chutney of the season are underway, and the first batch of bolognese is in the slow cooker; there is also a chicken roasting in the oven, so the house smells amazing.
