I'm spending much of tomorrow hopefully working through all my pots that need cleaning! I've got about 200 or so really nice plastic pots which I was given :)

I have a man coming later to take away the slabs that were surplus to requirements after my garden revamp 2 years ago,

Kristen, I try not to use any chemicals on my flower beds and lawns. If I use any on the lawns the bee orchids would disappear

My bee orchids are allowed to naturalise - I avoid cutting the lawn in that area, so no chemicals either. But they'll have to take their chances if they want to try to get a foothold in my stripey-lawn areas ...

If Iron Sulphate going to annoy things like that do you think? (I know "all chemicals" and all that, but this isn't exactly a complex MegaPharma product)

Man came and took slabs, coming back tomorrow for the gravel. So while feeling energetic got some things from garden shed I needed, then tidied rest back into shed, so much room now, I can see what I want now.

I really don't know, but I was told by an expert GC member (not been on here for a long time) that the bee orchids can only grow in soil that has a particular bacterium and the bacterium is very susceptible to most chemicals.

Another marathon work load day today, nice weather dry but very cold
Compost box barrowed top half to a holding area, then barrowed bottom 1.5 cubic meter, into my veg patch, dug it in
Started filling the compost pile/box off again, with some woody plant material and torn up cardboard, then the stuff in the holding area aereated a bit, fluffed up and topped up

Jet wash the small patio that had been my holding area, then started jet washing the 3 ton of quartz chips, that I have had piled up since August, then decided just to barrow them to the border and let the rain do it :-)

I do not have room for a second compost bin

Jack, that's a lot of work. You people from the northern reaches are the hardy pioneering types :blue thumb:. As I'm a wimpish soft southerner I'll stay wrapped up warm indoors :heehee:

I need to start on the jet washing but the hose is still frozen solid  and can't use the washer in these temperatures. The weather on the net says that, with the wind chill, it's -7C at the moment. :rolleyespink: The temp in our garden didn't get above freezing yesterday and it doesn't seem as though it will be any better today.

Just been outside for 10 mins or so and retreated to indoors, there`s a few jobs need doing so may venture to do them one at a time, with warm up sessions between.

After being to Dobbies I had some planting to do, so did that, then cleaned the decking, then gave the sleepers and the step near the shed another coat of black cuprinol, dug some compost into the borders, and had a general check over.
So far, Everything has come through the winter great, pleased as punch!

A few more pics ( sorry, but I'm loving my garden, even now without colour and the summer fullness!!)
