Spent most of the day in the garden as it was a fine sunny mild day.
Bit more musical chairs in my curvey border. Reseeding some bare patches in the lawns. Split and potted up some spare day lillies and other perennials with some to give away in the spring. Also had a fair few cuppas just enjoying being outside. Spotted the first lot of ladybirds of the year :dunno: and still plenty of butterflies about.

Just mowed the lawn and emptied the little ones sand pit.
            Reseeded patches of lawn too.
Left the leaves till after the world ends on Monday ;)

After clearing up all the leaves yesterday, obviously another load has shed,
              and it can stay there!

So today I brought all the Fuchsia cuttings that had taken from the conservatory,
and got those potted on. I then made a start on the mother plants, making a whole lot more cuttings for rooting.:blue thumb:

Once the blow away is doubly secured, (it is already held down with 10" tent pegs), I hope to get around to potting up some bulbs and having a tidy out front. IF not wet then I am going to try and get the grass cut front and back (not that the front has much now).

I'll be taking the garden swing down today and storing it away . Managed to have a sit out on it and a couple of drinks yesterday . While Molly dug yet another hole in the lawn :doggieshmooze: This officially marks the end of the summer garden season !

Picked the last of the Runner Beans yesterday, pulled them up and dismantled the frame before the impending tempest does it for me.

The courgettes have finally ground to a halt after over 3 months of steady production, so I picked the last remaining few and pulled them up too.

Grass needs cutting but still can't get it done because it's too wet (same as last weekend ... and the weekend before that).

Some Agaves I sowed a week ago (in addition varieties to supplement the ones that Pete kindly sent me a few weeks back) have germinated. A few more seeds have arrive from Rare Palms, and I'll sow them today (may be daft to try to get them going over the Winter, but that's my some-to-do-during-the-winter project this year :) )

Been out for 3 hours this morning. One or two showers and plenty of strong gusts to make it all a bit challenging.
Went down to my "gifted " bed in the High Street - pulled out all the mammoth chards and the trailing ivy leaf geraniums. Thus, freed up space for planting 50 tulips, 50 daffs and 15 lovely bushy wallflowers "Dwarf Persian mix" I think. Pulled out a lot of long bramble stems from the tall hedge en route home as they will whip your eyes out if the wind catches them.
Then onto out patio garden . Cut a lot hard back so it won't snap or rock in the gales. Took all the drip trays off all the pots, grouped the pots, one lot to the left and another to the right of the house wall. All close together to give each other solid support. Then put the heavy garden bench against one lot. So, so gusty - nearly had me over a few times.
Still, all done and patio hosed off now. As ready as we can be for the impending storm,
                          Jenny
stay safe everyone - I'll keep you posted. It's getting quite noisy out there now.

Put all the potted plants in the shed ready for the wind. Cover on the cold frame too. I was going to wait, but as it had to be moved to escape the wind I bought my BoP indoors for the winter - the Cymbidium and Hippaestrum can tough it out a while longer though as they really need a cold spell to get them going.

                              Today will be spent:
                              • firing up the slow cooker with soup ingredients
                              • ditto - bread machine

                              Then:
                              • clearing up the damage in the garden
                              • rescuing the cuttings from the "sheltered" spot (but clearly not from the storm :wallbanging: )
                              • wading through the waterlogged areas collecting soggy things
                              • retrieving the corrugated roof of the chicken coop from the neighbours fig tree
                              • thanking Mother Nature for keeping tight hold on the roots of the trees in my vicinity
                              • being grateful it wasn't worse
                              • using the opportunity to reflect on what has worked and what hasn't, under the given circumstances
                              Then:
                              • going to unwind with a good book
                              • a nice warm soak
                              • with a bowl of homemade soup mopped up with a doorstep of homemade bread!
