Amazing Julie, everything immaculate. I love your strawberry tower - what a clever use of odds and bits. Where are all these plants destined for? Do you grow for other allotmenteers?
thank you for sharing your piccies with us,
      Jenny

The only thing I've done in the garden is feed the birds. It was grim sliding about in the snow and slush!

Julie everything looks fantastic. There's plenty there to keep you busy. :)

Today I have had a bit of a panic  - weather is looking to be cold for the next week - I have my toms and some jalapenos in the greenhouse with paraffin heating - been suffering with the cold nights - and I know if I leave them out they will die. Scenario is no room indoors but have had no option but to bring them in - toms are in cell trays - as are some of the Jalapenos and some had been potted on. Stupid of me to sow too many too early I know but in previous years I have got away with it - obviously not this year.

So to give me a bit of space I have taken the trays of Lobelia and Petunias etc from the light garden down into the greenhouse, hoping with a plastic cover and some fleece together with the paraffin lamp they might survive - I have had to leave the geraniums down there to fend for themselves. Plants are now indoors - on tables, even some in the bath plan is to alternate them under the lights for the next week at least.

Hoping this cold spring means a nice hot summer for us.

... and don't even get me started on the price of a gallon of paraffin :nonofinger: - already used 3 times as much this year .....

So that has been my day today.

        S

P.S. Loving the Smilies on this site too

If greenhouse is near the house (rather than down on the allotment!!) then I would bring them in for the night. Just on the utility room floor or anything like that will be fine. Garage even will be OK if it isn't draughty. They need to be no lower than +10C otherwise they will "stall" even if they don't die (and then take ages to get going again - I'm like that too after I've been out in the cold!). I don't think your Lobellia and Petunias is going to like less than +10C anymore than the Toms would :(

And then put them out in the greenhouse during the day as soon as it is up to 10C. Its possible with extreme East winds that it won't get up to that, but I would expect that it will, even if for only a few hours. The plants will be happier with the natural light there, rather than indoors, although if you have a probably grow-light lighting right that will obviously give them plenty of bright light - still a lot less than the sun on an overcast day I think?

We haven't sown any seeds at all yet! We haven't been around enough to be able to look after them. They'll just have to do some catching up when we sow them - a friendly chat to them might help :).

          Did some mowing yesterday :dbgrtmb:

Very impressive. Very jealous as I have lost the conservatory to my sons play room and due to the weather I have not been able to complete the grow house yet. Upto yet I have down a single seed. I might steal your strawberry ladder idea though. Very ingenious.

Hi Jenny, I am hoping to sell a few hundred of the plants when they have filled out a bit more. Probably car boots and ads in windows.
