Hi got compost, gravel and sand ready for tomorrow when I am hopefully going to finish digging borders and maybe I'll plant somethings out. I wanted to do some today, but just decorated son's bedroom so it was off to the Range to get bedding and other bits for it.:) Can't wait!!

Following on from my stand against the lingering winter yesterday :snork: when I got the grass cut, prepared a couple of planting areas and did some general tidying today I managed to apply some chicken manure pellets to various trees and shrubs followed by a lovely thick mulch from my compost bin. I also removed old leaves from the strawberries and mulched them. And then after tea I gave the shed a coat of wood preserver, it'll need a second coat so it can have that tomorrow :)

I also dug over the veg patch again to check whether it had dried out enough (the surface has dried out lovely) for the spuds that should have gone in a month ago, its not bad and I think they may possibly be put in tomorrow :).........hundreds of worms about :dancy: :dbgrtmb:

          Tidied the shed out.
Piled up various rubbish ready for a bonfire tomorrow
Brushed and cleaned the fences ready for painting.
Watered the seedlings which seem to be miles behind last years!

Such a glorious day, yesterday, that Mr Mum and I spent a good few hours in the garden. Tried out my mantis tiller - great little tool that! - but, despite the lack of rain for the past few weeks, the ground is still a little on the damp side for the tines. Did manage to get one area in the copse done though; albeit a smallish area.

The rear lawn has been mown and looks so much better. Potted up a couple of hostas too.

Got home from the club at 5.30 yesterday evening and Mrs Shiney had done a lot more clearing and tidying up. I got the bonfire stoked up again (still smoldering from the previous day) and burnt everything she'd cleared.

Got home yesterday from 3 weeks in Norfolk and Brighton, found my garden a virtual desert, it`s been so dry, and all my plants in the greenhouse keeling over.
Note to self: Neighbour not a good gardener.

Pam, sorry to hear about your greenhouse.

When we're away we have a watering rota for friends and they have written instructions - plus each other's phone numbers just in case they can't get here on their days.

I gave them all a good watering last night, and will check over today, unfortunately my T&M fuchsias arrived while I was away, delivery said early April, so I hoped they would come after I got back, plus side, she potted them into modules, 1000s of pots in greenhouse corner, but at least she tried, bonus would have been if she had watered them, :dunno:

Been there, done that, doing that, planning to do more of that :dbgrtmb:

Worrying about where to put them all - traditional worry at this time of year, but new worry is about the lack of decent temperature for them, and which ones can cope below 10C - I have areas of the conservatory which are dropping to 8C, and others to 6C, and only a small area I can keep at 10C+ :(

Might have to turn up the thermostat on the whole conservatory :hate-shocked:

I sowed a few Salvias (various),Physalis and Red Robins in 1" modular cells.
And I put 12 more Red Robins on a damp piece of Kitchen towel and sealed them in a polybag.
I took them up to the airing cupboard and was fishing about at the back, near the cylinder jacket and came across a pot of something - with cling film over it. Could'nt remember putting it in there :dunno: . Ah! Begonia Sutherlandii baby corms - date 7/3/ 13! All sprouted little white stems :dancy: . Now in the bathroom to get used to light and the Kitchen towel is where they were. I must make a note to check on that more regularly. How long before I peep please?

There are three things about getting old:

The first is that you lose you memory ...

... sorry, I can't remember the other two :heehee:
