What Jobs Are We Doing in the Garden Today... MK3.. 2013

Just a bit - hence buying the trays tonight that equate to 3000 cells, on top of the fibre pots I already have in hand.

I just hope the weather behaves this year

 

Oh!! Is she's that type of care worker?

 

fat controller, they look good but what are you going to do with all those tomato plants?

 

I do, but it would be a hell of a faff getting them in there and back out every day - I'm usually long at work by this time in the morning, so it wouldn't really be practical to be moving them out and back in again every day

 

I'm going to keep the best ones, plus a few spares, then see my neighbours and friends right for them before putting up a wee notice at work and selling them at 40 or 50p a plant - not looking to make a fortune, but enough to cover the costs and maybe a fiver or so toward some compost.

 

It was sunny today until early afternoon and then the clouds became thicker and heavier and it got a lot colder.
However, I gave a gate I had repaired earlier this weeks a second coat of paint, the Kitchen door a coat of red Sadoline varnish.


Then I had a wander around the garden to check on the Clematis Armandii I had planted under my Acer Brilliantissismum as an experiment to see if it will clamber up into the branches. It seems to have settled in nicely.



I have two old stone sinks from some Cottages that were knocked down some time ago nearby. I've always planted them up and kept them looking good....until two years ago. They're now in urgent need of being completely emptied and having a mixture of sand, soil, grit with Alpines and Succulents put in. Here's the first one on the West border.


And the second on the East border.


Also in the walk around I looked at the Sunningdale Silver Pampas Grass which the East wind has ravaged. The seed plumes I usually leave for the birds to take and make nesting material out of, but there's not much left even so I'll leave it for a week or two before I cut it down.


And the Arbour roof needs a repaint in green timber treatment....that can wait for warmer weather though


Plus my compost heap needs digging out and turning over. I pruned the three Buddleia's today and will shred the pruning tomorrow. I usually prune them in late March but this cold weather and late Winter delayed things.

 

Good idea

A suggestion (from having sold plants for a long time):- sell them at 50p each (much easier to to handle the cash) or 5 for £2 (they'll go much quicker that way).
