Is that last year's Cranesbill foliage Mum? What else is in there that will come back now you've "pruned " it?

Have tied down the plastic pieces on my greenhouse ready for the great wind to arrive and the big rain to hit.:runforhills:

Covered my seedlings in the cold frame too.

The weather has been lovely here today, so I managed to get a lot of tiding-up done, also planted out my shallots which I had started in modules in the frame in February and planted half a dozen Jerusalem Artichokes. Rain due tonight, but is supposed to warm up nicely again tomorrow - we shall see ....

Don't think there's any Cranesbill, Jenny :dunno:

But, you are quite right, it will be interesting to see what comes back now some air and light have been let in; after my massacre :heehee:

alex-adam - I began with just a handful of Jerusalem artichokes; I think it is fair to say that I shall never need to invest in any more  I only realised this year (when I let them get to flower) that they are related to the sunflower family. The JA's certainly did produce attractive flowers

You need to be a bit careful with JA's as they can get quite rampant.

Mum, that's certainly a haircut you've given your garden. :) What is it about secateurs, once we start we can't stop, I think they should carry a health warning for shrubs. :heehee:

Today I moved the peppers/chillies from the house to the greenhouse - toms have been in there for a couple of days - still indoors are Scotch Bonnets and Habaneros. Checked pots for anything growing that has overwintered successfully - surprisingly quite a lot has survived in really small pots - hydrangea cuttings, a couple of sprouts of hardy geraniums and some self-seeded Aquiliega that I potted up when tiny and more. Found some fuchsias in pots that didnt get put away - sadly dead. Planning a good day out there on Monday - need to dig up some straggly bits of ground elder before it takes hold again. Have been doing the odd bits and pieces on good days - Excited and looking forward to it - especially as my garden has not had much tlc for the past 3 years due to illness  . Doing a "To Do" list.

Sorry to hear you've been ill sumbody, but I'm sure you'll have things right as rain in no time :)

Weather permitting today I will be doing more potting of existing plants into new containers. I've also got two new plants (Prunus Lusitanica and Philadelphus Virginal) which will be going into containers. I am re-doing my north facing border (which I did last year) using more mature plants which I've already got in containers/another border so need to plan that carefully to avoid changing my mind again next year

It does look very drastic, Sheal; but, I'm fairly confident it will grow back and probably look a lot happier from the light and air that can now get through. There are a lot of kerria stalks in amongst that patch; most I have trimmed (yes, I know, wrong time of year - but again, I'm confident it will regenerate itself), a couple I have left to flower.

Apart from some more pressure hosing yesterday I scrubbed some of the walls of the summerhouse with an anti fungus/mould to get it clean and kill the spores - it's really a type of bleach.

Today I have to wash it off so need to get Mrs Shiney to move all the pot plants that are in the way. I'll use the pressure washer, on gentle, to save climbing on ladders (the, north, end wall is just under 4 metres) and to get loads of water on it so that the bleach is diluted enough by the time it reaches the beds and lawn.

I'll leave the rest of the treatment for another time and shall get on with pressure hosing the patio.

I shall, also, have to trek round the garden removing all the deer pooh that was 'kindly' deposited on Friday night! Firstly, I need to find how they got in  (hedges all down the sides and a deer fence at the back). They've had a go at the rhubarb

Compost that deer pooh, Shiney; they left you a Spring gift to say thank you for the rhubarb :)

planted onion sets and sown carrots, beetroots and radishes. repotted some herbs to big pots in which they will stay outside, I'm hardening them off at the moment.

is it already that time that tomatoes and peppers can be moved into unheated greenhouse?
