They need minimum of 10C overnight ... if you can maintain that then fine :)

Sown all my sweet pea seeds. I know it's probably late, but with the way the weather has been I don't think that they will be that far behind. Sown about 150 which took nearly 3 hrs as my 3 year old son was helping, it was very entertaining.

Sowing and sorting day today, got more carrots and beetroots sown. Also sown some more African Marigolds and Nigella, thus replace the ones lost due to the cold.
Had a go at the weeds with the hoe, this seems fruitless as they have very strong roots. I think if the soil dries out a bit more then I will be able to get the fork under them and lift the little perisher's.

Cut the lawn, fed the plants, tidied the borders and planted some bits I bought today:-

            40 Dahlias bulbs
            60 iris
            4 Geums
            Sowed aster seeds

Also planted up 2 planters either side of my back door with dahlias and iris.

Moved my large Diksonia back to the decking where it belongs.

And planted 2 senetti which was the first plant I bought mrs al when we started going out, and guess what, she remembered them!

Got the rest of the tender bulbs repotted, did a few Tricyrtis divisions, removed an overly large Euphorbia clump and then carried on weeding (Forget me Nots are a bind here, as is Teasel).

                Yesterday:

Dug up the last of the over-wintered carrots, these have been lovely with very little slug damage, the big freeze must have kept the little blighters away this year.

Planted early spuds 'Rocket' and maincrop 'Pink Fir Apple'. Some of these already have roots (started off in g.house in trays of compost), I've also covered a few with a cloche. I had a few seed potatoes left over which are now in buckets of compost in the small greenhouse.

Planted onions sets, again these are already in growth, kick-started in the greenhouse in seed trays.

Potted up most of my over-wintered tender stuff, Dahlias, Cannas & Ensetes. Saw some signs of new growth on my Brugmansias, I though the frost had killed them off in the greenhouse, looks like they may shoot again from the base.

                Grafted a few tomatoes.

Potted on the rest of my tomatoes and giant onions for the competition, they are making good root growth:

Here they are in the greenhouse behind a couple of sunflowers:

Blimey John, proper Show Bench Grower's supports for your onions then? There's competitive for you!

If your onions stay taller than your Sunflowers all season they will be quite something, eh? :heehee:

Been pricking out some seedlings today, and moving them into slightly larger 9-cell trays - did my dahlias, and they immediately showed their contempt at their enforced accommodation switch by going a bit limp - - I just hope they forgive me and spring back into life:

Tomorrow's job will be to do the same with some of the marigolds that are getting away with themselves:

Did an hours digging on the new bed, that's all my back can take in one stint. I then moved most of my seedlings out to the greenhouse and hope they look okay in the morning. Others have been left indoors to grow on slightly and I've also held back my tomatoes and peppers for a bit longer. My Iris seedlings have now been moved out from the greenhouse to harden off. :)
