What Jobs Are We Doing in the Garden Today... MK3.. 2013

Nearly snap! I put mine out and some bird pooped on two of the tea towels!!

 

finally got round to shaping half my front border, the rest by the end of the week, too embarassed to post a pic as my front lawn is covered in weeds and dandelions, went over it yesterday with weed and feed.

 

Moved the compost heap from in the middle if where my chickens will live. Need to get some rope to tie the pallets at the corners and to the posts I hammered into the ground. Had to use a 3 pound lump hammer to hammer them in as the handle on my 16 pound sledge has broken. Need to get some feather edge board for the side facing the house and the gate at the front so it looks ok from the kitchen and for the neighbours. Then need to sow some wild flower seeds next to the lilac as I have lost the wild flower patch to the compost heap.

Potted on 48 french marigolds, 24 salvia blaze of fire, 12 redskin dahlia,
My coleus are still so tiny sown feb 19th any ideas anyone.
Plenty more to pot on but ran out of compost

 

I think they will be OK. They start small - although mine have been under lights and even so are a month behind where they were last year ...

Sown 26-Feb last year, 28-Feb this year.

Planted out the first of the Hollies to form the Maze. Going to be a bit selective which parts I plant, as only about 1/3rd of the Hollies are big enough as yet, the rest will wait until next Spring, and some will be the Spring after that ...

 

Hi been at work today, but yesterday finally got my three Tree ferns planted Tomorrow got a delivery of palms and yucca's so if they come early enough, am hoping to get them planted as well

 

Took 12 pots of perrenials and shrubs to mums garden. Will miss them but my garden looks much tidier now. dragged all little chimneys grow bags and fruit over to her bit of the garden and tidied the soil put the sticks back in to keep the cats off the first two sections of border. and planted my earlies a bit late i know

 

The Ophiopogon Black Beard that I split up and potted individually a little while back. All from one plant - I've netted about 35 plants from that one parent plant

 

Finished putting the compost heap back together. Just need to put the feather edge board on and possibly make s roof.

I finally planted out my Butia capitata, that I had been growing on for about 5 yrs.
If it survives, that will be good.
If not, it couldn't stay in a pot for ever.
I might give it some overhead protection next winter.

 

I love your garden Chimney . It looks as if beyond the shed there could be something/ anything. I suppose I mean it looks as if it could lead anywhere .. If you get my meaning
