I've never tried to grow samphire. It sounds quite troublesome. I grow saltwort instead on any normal garden soil and pick the young tender shoots whenever I want and cook them the same way as I do with samphire, ie boil for 5-10 minutes, drain, then season with salt & pepper and a dash of olive oil and some vinegar. :stirpot:

I transferred around 300 Sweetpeas from their cells to proper pots. I only need around 50 for my own use, the rest are going in the Local Gardening Club sale. I stripped out all the old soil, gravel and plants from one of the stone Cottage sinks and replaced it with sand, potting grit and compost. I've planted 10 Succulents into the sink but will have to get some alpines tomorrow and then I'll dress the surface with more gravel.

Will do, Jenny.:snork: I've already planted up two fairly large shallow circular pots in the same, which is why I ran out of Succulents for the second stone Cottage sink!! So I need around 10 more Succulents as well as the Alpines and some more gravel for dressing the top.:dunno::snork:

Big rush on as was away on holiday last week, got home Saturday hoping to spend week catching up on garden only to find we've got to go down to Lancs for a funeral on Wednesday. So have had to pack into the last two days - pricking out tomatos and brasiccas (far too leggy due to week's absence), cutting two lawns, planting main crop spuds, sowing more outdoor toms in trays, sowing more brasiccas, planting beetroot in polytunnel. Washing and polishing car and trying to locate suit, tie and white shirt that I've not worn for a couple of years.
              Knackered!!!

Holiday was up in highlands and it rained and blew gales every day apart from our last one. Didn't manage all the walking we'd intended but read a lot of books and snoozed a lot! Very relaxing :snork:

As I've got a busy day ahead I thought I would get some gardening in early. 5.30 a.m. turned sprinkler on and moved it. As I'd moved it to water across the access to that part of the garden I had to run through it to get out :rolleyespink: - or walk through the wet flower beds that had been watered last night. Should have turned it on after I had put it in position

Went indoors and changed :heehee: and had a cuppa. Then fed the birds (got told off by the male pheasant for not doing it earlier) and I've started making new edges around the herb garden but only did about 50ft as it's rock hard. Will have to put the sprinkler on it for a short time tomorrow. No time for anything else today.

Don't suppose you've got a soaker-hose or a leaky-hose? Would target the water to the "edge" nicely, I reckon.

No, I don't have either of those but the whole bed (the whole garden) needs watering, anyway!

I do, occasionally, have a leaky hose :heehee: and sometimes it's a soaker hose as well :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Given the garden a good soaking. I can't believe how much of a spurt it has had since Sunday. Didn't get out there yesterday as I got home very late and the difference is remarkable. Hopefully get some more seeds sown after dinner.

Sunday - melted drainage holes in 200 plastic cups ready for potting stuff on into
Monday - moved on three seed trays worth of African Marigolds into 12-cell trays, and ended up having to use a handful of the plastic cups because some of the blighters were too big for even the bigger cells (were these really only wee flaky seeds a matter of weeks ago??)
Today - moved on roughly 70 tomato (Marmande) seedlings into their intermediate plastic cup homes, and then commenced the eviction process - - - shelving rearranged in the greenhouse to take the recently re-homed seedlings, as I am running out of room in the house!
