Finished work at 6.30, had dinner and went straight outside and planted my 3 phyllistachis nigra, my phormium and the fern into the planters I bought from homebase! It was dark, it was cold, it was touch and go whether my fingers would drop of but I managed it and they look magnificent!!

      Yes, Ma'am! :heehee:

Everything was pretty damp but I eventually got it started. It was pretty slow at first and needed quite a bit of attention.

Once it got started I had to keep feeding the hot spot and worked on getting it to spread.

Then it really got going and I had to keep moving the stuff on the outer edges into the middle. Then it got quite hot.

Once it had burnt down the centre of the fire had become ashes but I then had to rake everything from the outside into the middle. By the time I'd had enough (I'd also raked five barrow loads of leaves whilst the fire was burning) the fire had got going again and I came indoors.

No, but I did go round the heap, widdershins, a few times beating it with a stick. I think my neighbour thought I was a male witch :heehee:. I was actually trying to chase out any hedgehogs. :)

Planted my crocosmia and tigridia bulbs into plant pots ready for the late spring/summer. Also tidied up the drive where I spilt a shed load of compost. Other than that, nowt apart than visiting Morrisons and getting a bokkle brush plant.

Planted the three silver birch trees that I purchased in the week in a drunken Ebay session - I dont really have space for them but we have lost a lot of trees around about in the last 12 months & Im feeling a bit exposed, so Ive planted them in a clump, hopefully that will regulate their growth a bit... that & the layer of builders rubbish that seems to be everywhere in my garden.

Well I think we are a fairly broadminded bunch :-) I find a bit of Drunken Ebaying quite relaxing after a frustrating day in the city - just remember to close the curtains if you are going the "Clothing optional" route !

Came home to find that the power was out in the Greenhouse - on investigation it turns out I left a 5amp fuse in the plug I used to lengthen the heater lead & its blown.... easy fix but hoping that my 'nannas are ok - it got down to -2 in there today & its not looking like its going to get above freezing for a week or so.

A life-time first - I bought some 'quality' fruit stems instead of the cheapest of the cheapest. I'm expecting/hoping that these will perform (of course, I will give them the best looking-after I can) and if it works a treat then I might continue to 'invest in quality'.

Cut back sedum, did a bit of weeding and had a bit of a tidy up. Nice to get back out in the garden with the wind round my ears and dirt under my nails.

Did a bit of tidying up around the hellebores and started on fruit tree pruning. I'll have to have another bonfire soon!
