Thanks Sheal. I was feeling a bit guilty at leaving the Sinks to their own devices for the last two years so it's eased my conscience.:heehee: Once the Succulents and Alpines start settling in and growing the whole arrangement will start to look softer:coffee:

Expecting the weather to be bad today I spent it in the greenhouse potting on seedlings...

      Petunia
      Sunflower
      Helipterum
      Aubrieta
      Delphinium 'Summer Morning'
      Lavender

I've grown so much this year I'm running out of space, trays and pots etc. The tomatoes and peppers aren't out there yet either.

I'm not a lover of baskets and have just two attached to my front of house wall, what I've failed to do is grow anything to put in them this year.

I removed about 70ft of 60 year old wire fence. It was buried about 9" deep (or the ground had grown over it) so had to dig it out as well as the angle-iron fence posts. Will take it to the dump tomorrow.

Also did a lot of mowing and a lot of tea drinking. :)

I weeded the border which runs along the back of the house. It's north facing so a difficult spot to play with but it does have a rosemary, a rose, some tulips, a Dicentra Spectabalis and a geranium. Really need to put something more in there, far too much bare soil to plant ratio. Time to use the 'search' function on GC to get some inspiration I think.

Not enough to take for Scrap? Prices for base metals are pretty good at present ...

Although quite thick wire, plastic coated, it's about a 6" mesh so there's not a lot of weight in it. The posts are 3ft high and mainly rust (some of them broke off at the surface as I was putting pressure on them).

Planted 4 red hot pokers sown last autumn and a bit of watering.
Off to find some alpines and succulents for some pots tomorrow along with some black fence paint.
Got 20 6x6 panels to do!

Today I've done a job that I've been dreading and hence putting off for the past month. I have moved a couple of Rhodos from planters into larger planters. May not sound like much but they had quite large root balls and were a pain in the posterior to shift. Still, at least they are now done

So far this Spring I have potted up 27 containers, either with new shrubs or else ones which have been moved from smaller containers.

I only have another 14 shrubs to pot up, plus 7 Dahlias (4 Peach Brandy & 3 Lilac Time) and a Paeonia 'Sarah Bernhardt', all of which are also going in containers. I think. Although I may put some in the front garden. If I can ever make my mind up

Once I've done that I am re-doing my raised borders and north facing border. I'm not usually indecisive but can't decide what to do with those either :wallbanging: I know which plants I've got to play with, but can't decide which order to put them in.

And somehow I also need to take down four metal posts which were holding up my pergola which collapsed. I think instead of digging out the posts where they have been concreted in, I am going to cut them off at ground level. That should be fun cos I'm rubbish at sawing.

The effort of shifting them is no small job, Merleworld, the dead weight of a Shrub's rootball can be back breaking.........well done!!

To be honest, I think that would be happier in the ground and you'd get more out of it if you've got the space.:snork:
