    Do you think it would be happy in a raised (quite exposed) border with a young fruiting Cherry Armandii?

    Yes, I can't see a reason why it shouldn't be, Merleworld. I've got around 9 Paeonia in the borders around the garden, including Sarah Bernhardt, so they're all in different micro climates. The Sarah Bernhardt is fairly close to two large Conifers and an Acer Brilliantissimum but flowers happily and abundantly every year. Just be sure not to plant it too deep.:snork:

        I bought 'Sarah Bernhardt' in a packet a couple of months ago, planted it in a pot as a temporary measure until my new bed is finished. It's now starting to shoot but I don't expect much from it this year as I will be planting it out, probably at the end of next week. It cost me £1.20. :)

        Meanwhile, I finished double digging the said bed out today, back breaking work! Now I have to get some compost and manure dug in.

          Just planted 35 mixed Dutch iris bulbs I picked up for a £1, they were starting to sprout in the bag so I hope I'll get a show this year.
          The local market guy wasn't there this morning so didnt pick up and alpines or succulents :doh: hopefully next week hell be there.
          Picked up 20l of black sadolin fence paint for £28 from b+m but no chance of painting today some very heavy showers about.

            Just finished rabbit proofing the veg patch, that took some doing, there'll be hell to pay if they get in now!

                    Noooooooooooooo! They'd better not - 3' high and 1' out, that should stop em. Failing that I have a plan b! Buzzard got one the other day, that's one less.                       I got quite a lot done today. Cut another 150ft of lawn edging and weeded in the edge (Mrs Shiney wasn't around to tell me off for doing all that bending :mute:), struggled to tie back a big branch of a tree that was getting in the way of me working, fixed a few things in the greenhouse and started setting up the bean canes. So far today I put up enough canes to do 100 plants :dbgrtmb:

                      I'm going to have to buy another 50 canes as some of the others are too short or have been used in putting some extra height on the deer fence.
