Ditto with Sheal altho there are times when I'd like a much smaller garden or a newer fitter body to cope with it!:) Lived in a flat with no balcony for about 3 years and absolutely hated it except when the weather was diabolical and no sane person would have even wanted to see outside far less be outside.
Re what I'm up to, fighting a loosing battle with Spanish Bluebells which seem to flourish despite 10 years now of removing all I can see, I absolutely hate them. Long after I'm six foot under I think they will still be here!

Not for me - we lived in a top floor flat with nothing but a concrete driveway and no way to even have window boxes, and it was pretty horrid; and not forgetting that you are always at the mercy of someone below you should they do something stupid and set you alight!

Sure, the garden is a bit of graft, especially at this time of year, but we do it all in the hope that we get to enjoy it looking lovely in a matter of weeks time and hopefully have a supply of fresh foods on tap that taste better than supermarket offerings and hopefully cost less.

Hopefully , I am putting up my plastic greenhouse. I read on here that it may be too early to leave Hanging baskets out and for this reason I have bought a plastic greenhouse to put them in. Plus, hopefully an Arch.

I have a list of jobs as long as my arm for today (day off work), but have to drop Mrs C at work and then collect a colleagues car which needs my attention for a few hours, drop it back to him pick Mrs C up at some point, then go and vote - all before I get anywhere near gardening!

If you are like me ,you don`t like asking, but appreciate when it`s offered. :pathd:

I have been sorting out some of my big outdoor pots, which badly needed it. I had 2 big terracotta pots I had planted up with lovely bush fuchsias, and ivy. the one fuchsia has died, and is now a mass of ivy, the other I prised the fuchsia out and planted it in the garden, variety unknown. The ivy I have replanted in an iron basket on a stand ,so that can trail, had a rest now so will go and appraise the other.I will then probably plant the terracotta back up with fuchsia.

Then tomorrow I will be buying compost as I have just opened my last bag. :heehee:

Danced around naked in the garden shouting "freedom!" All in prep for the naked gardening day this sat. It's the only time I have meat and two veg in amongst me aspidistras!

Other than that, watered, snipped, tidied, planted, sat and enjoyed the glorious sunshine whilst my 3 1/2 year old painted pictures on his little patio set. Oh and played swing ball too!

Not a sausage more than opening the greenhouse doors - took a while to fix my mates car, then went to do my taxi stint, before coming home and tidying up just in time for my parcel to arrive, which has taken me the last two hours to set up.

Off to make dinner in a minute.

Loli, you be careful with those bags :nonofinger: (oily rag time :heehee:). I always ask for help and the Garden centres are happy to do so.

This morning I was busy but when I arrived home at 3 p.m. Mrs Shiney had filled two wheelie bins with weeds :phew:. I have only unpacked the 20kg bag of bird feed that arrived whilst I was out and put it into the containers I have for it. The pack of 50 x 7ft canes also arrived and I've shifted them to the bottom of the garden. Then ran 200ft of hosepipe to the bed on the front that has turned to dust again. It looks as though half the aquilegias in that bed may be dead . Then trimmed a few hundred foot of lawn edges and mowed two lawns. :blue thumb:

                        I've been a bit of busy bee since returning from holiday, I've managed to get the following done;
                        • Cut the grass
                        • Done some weeding, but I'm sure they pop straight back up as soon as I turn my back as they're growing that fast :snork:
                        • Potted on my overwintered Rheum seedlings from last autumn
                        • Re-potted my Hostas into larger pots
                        • Potted on numerous other seedlings
                        • Sowed some wildflower seed in a little native/natural area I've created
                        • Done quite a bit of watering - already!, mainly pots though.
                        • Done some other general tidying
                        • Oh and squashed about 5 lily beetles :eeew::heehee:

Sounds like you're meeting yourself coming back Shiney with the build up to your open garden time. :)

Up until this year I haven't grown Aquilegias as they grew like weeds in a previous garden, I got to the point where I couldn't stand them. However, seeds caught my eye earlier this year and I currently have 'Rhubarb and Custard' seedlings underway.

Well, after yesterdays disaster waiting for the weather to make up it's mind, I finally got not one but both my lawns mowed today. :)
