Just cleaned the filter on the pond today and watered the GH.
Decided to give painting the fence a miss tonight :snork:
Got 10 panels to give another coat. (I will get it done :snork: )
Cut the other conifer down today.

Dug trenches for peas and climbing french beans and put compost from the worm bins into the bottom of them. Put up poles for climbing beans. Dibbled 40 holes for maincrop carrots, filled them with a mixture of riddled soil and compost and sowed a few seeds at each station then covered with fleece. Raked chicken pellets into the cabbage and cauli bed. Planted 12 lettuce in polytunnel..
Picked up grand-daughter from nursery and then we went on a mini-beast hunt with magnifying glass around the garden. Found a daddy and a baby wood louse, a centipede and a little spider. Great fun!

Another sunny and warm day which lifted my mood no end.

Spent some time tidying, feeding and watering strawberry plants.
            image.jpg

            Also harvested some cauliflowers.
            image.jpg
It is nice to have freshly picked vegetables, yet I wonder whether there is a way to avoid cauliflowers becoming ready more or less at the same time :what: . It is hard to keep up with their production and there's a limit to how much cauliflower and cheese sauce one can eat :heehee: ;) .

Then of course there is always the danger of developing "cauliflower ear" http://www.null-hypothesis.co.uk/article/210:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Strange I have this afternoon cooked a load of cauliflower cheese, I put mini pasta in with the cauli, frozen into portions 9 tonight, and 6 last week, great quick meal for me, into halogen with a chicken kiev or pork chop, my kind of ready meal.

I raise four plants at a time, starting them off at 2 week intervals ... which is about the rate that we eat them. They won't "stand" in the field, once ripe, for much more than a week or 10 days ...

Day off today so will be doing yet more potting of plants into containers. I think I may lose the will to live if I don't get them finished soon :thud:

Need to nip to B&Q and get a saw to take down the pergola and more compost (didn't end up going last weekend).

I'm going to start removing plants from the borders and moving them elsewhere. I need to plant out my two Acers but still haven't 100% decided which order everything is going in.

I'll just carry on moving the sprinkler around - more difficult than it sounds as there is a few hundred feet of hose to sort out and I try to do it with as little bending down as possible :old: :)

I shall continue making my Shineyframe for the beans now that the new canes have been delivered. I'll still do some 'wigwams' as a control as one year's result is not really definitive

There's always lots of clearing up to do  so shall work on that as well.

Not a sausage done today - lots of other stuff kept us busy instead; be back in garden mode tomorrow.

Seeing the cauliflower above, I need to get mine sown shortly don't I?

I haven't done much today with rain threatening again. I dug out a 4x2ft patch of lawn next to the drive, it had sunk after drains replacement men had left a mess for me to sort out some while ago. It's now built up with soil and re-seeded. :)

Well, the day finished with me washing emptied pots. All 20 of them !! So, I must have planted quite a lot of things.
Did older neighbour's wall manger with new compost and slow release granules and then 4 of my best begonias - now showing the first signs of flower. Then put out all my blousey mammoth fuchsias in the 3 windowbox troughs in the front ( North facing ). Planted 4 perennials in the Communal border and did myself a new little hanging basket for outside the kitchen window. I have decided to be frugal and make linings out of old compost bags. The friolina pansies should trail over the sides quite quickly - hopefully.
Tomorrow is planting up the 14 Red Robin toms from their 1 " inch cells into 3 " pots. They can occupy the space freed up by the planting of the fuchsias.
Things are moving on at last!!
Been lovely here today- high 60's and really delightful :wub2:

Cleared the garden and done a couple of trips to the tip. Feed cabbages and garlic and gave them a good soak. Topped up the raised beds with compost, but ran out so had to go to garden centre for more. Whilst I was there I bought 4 tomato plants. And then went to the petrol station to get fuel for mower. I will mow tomorrow as its time to bath my son and get him to bed.
