I guess I should call it the "Brown House" as I some time spill a lot of compost on the floor!!:gaah::snork:

The day started very sunny so I whitewashed the greenhouse - within 2 hours the skies opened and now have streaks on the glass. At least it will stop the glare of the sun on my seedlings.

Wow every ones been so busy. :heehee: Have not been on for a while because doing overtime at work and trying to get garden sorted. Over past few weeks planted ranunculus, maurelli, a couple of ferns, some of my dahlias. Also potted on cannas, begonias, coleus and some echeveria. Received my Trachys and got them planted, but have now pulled my shoulder trying to lift them into position. Had to go to the doctor and now on anti inflamatories. So having to take my time now getting the rest of the stuff planted out. :cry3:

Up first thing & over to the garden centre to pick up some compost & a nice big pot for Musella lasiocarpa to live in as I need to evict it from the greenhouse. Potted on the big 'nanna & gave it a good watering in with half strength high nitrogen fertilizer.

Weather took a turn for the worse, so I spent an hour in the afternoon giving the greenhouse tomatoes a tidy - I should have done it last week really, 'cos the laterals had got a bit out of hand.. to the point that some of them were getting their own flowers.. surgery was a bit drastic but I expect the patients to pull thru.

IF the rain holds off today (or in between showers), I will finish off the six planters I have to do at this stage. Then I have to decide where they are going because I've changed my mind about some since I potted them - no easy job to move them either because most of them have at least 75L worth of compost in them, on top of the plant, the pot and whatever is in the bottom (polystyrene in most cases but more latterly I've been using horticultural grit) :phew:

Lawns desperately need mowing but too wet unfortunately.

May even tackle the pieces of wood from the ex-pergola which need chopping up (with my new Scorpion saw which I haven't tried out yet).

We were out all day yesterday so shall have to make up for it today. Mowing and tidying up is the order of the day for me. I'll leave the proper gardening to Mrs Shiney. :)

I've finished potting up 48 planters :hapydancsmil:

Well technically I still have a few to do but the plants which are going into them are currently planted out so will be moved when I redo the borders, so there's no urgency. Still have to do a Dahlia or two, but they are probably going to go in the front garden.

When I look out at my garden it no longer looks like "death by terracotta plastic" :snork: because the planters are mainly brown, which not only blends in but shows off the plants better. There are also a few in cream/beige/green.

I do, however, have lots of plastic terracotta planters in various sizes to get rid of.

Just done abit of weeding and lawn edging.
Removed a heather that was on its last legs.
Looks like i lost a fern that I cut back in march not showing any signs of life! All the other looking good. The Japanese painted fern also taking its time too. Can see some new fronds forming just under the soil though.
Want to get some of the bedding plants in but this weeks weather not looking promising down to 3'c Tuesday Wednesday

Built the base for the grow house and knocked out some of the wall so it would fit, chopped out some old chicken wire fencing and steel fence post. We then had visitors so had to stop and have lunch with them. Now it's peeing down so the wife and I are going to the shops ( going to try and get a trip to the garden centre in there as well :snork:)

It's been a wet, drizzling, grey day today so I went to Northwich [the nearest B&Q] and bought 600 litres of compost. That's now stacked in the Garage [puff, pant, groan:hate-shocked:]. I was close to running out of compost yesterday after potting a fair number of plants, but I will need the new compost for filling the buckets that I grow the Tomatoes in and for the large pots which will have the Cannas in. That will have to be done in the middle of the week and so I will have to move a lot of plants out of the Green House to make room. Then it was a coat on for a amble around the garden, renewing the Sultanas at the base of the main Bird Bath and the seeds in the Feeders. A check on the pond said all was well and I threw some pellets on the surface and the fish soon showed.:coffee:
