I moved four tomatoes outside to harden off, they are for my son-in-law. Planted out Papaver, Lupins and Cosmos, I'll be surprised if the Cosmos still exist in the morning though. Washed a lot of pots and trays hoping to keep them down this year so they're not all left to the end of the season. :)

Executive decision! As I only have 8 of them, I have decided that they are best off in large pots/planters around the garden, so they won't get planted until tomorrow now.

I managed to plant up my 'best' border (the sunny one) which now has a row of tree lillies at the back (not very tall this year, but hey-ho), Dahlia Bishops Children in front, Nicotiana in front of them, two rows of African Marigold Crackerjack in front of those, two rows of petunias in front of those and then the front filled with French Marigolds (a few of which I still need to plant after I get back from shopping. Some space left at the back to accommodate a few of the XXXL Dahlias that I wish would hurry up and come!

Some of the Dahlias also made it into the back border, where they will be joined by African Marigolds tomorrow, and eventually (hopefully) the rest of the XXXL Dahlias, and some Malva Zebrina once they find their feet.

Also planted out were a mixture of nasturtiums, some trailing/climbing and others upright - I stuck them into the poor soil beneath the thieves conifers in the hope that they will fill the ground below them and climb up them as appropriate. Somewhat worryingly, some of the seedlings had yellowing leaves - I can only hope that this is because they were 'pot bound' in their wee cellular trays and now that they are in the ground they make a run for it - - - I always thought nasturtiums were as tough as old boots?

I'm at that stage where we all get to now - when is it ever going to end, and why on earth don't I just plant perennials and have done with it? But, I live in hope it will come good in the end.

Will try and get photos tomorrow once further progress has been made.

fc, nearly all our garden is perennials - but there's still loads to get done :phew: :rolleyespink:

I've mowed most of the back lawns but not done the orchard/wild area. The front lawns are next on the agenda, but not today. :coffee:

Spruce, do you have the variegated London Pride? The leaves are green and gold :blue thumb:

Spruce, the variegated London Pride looks very impressive when it's just in leaf :blue thumb:. It would look good alongside your one. :)

Fed everything and deadheaded. Had a walk around, and gave the gunnera runticata another good telling off. I swear it's shrinking in defiance!

So many jobs to do this weekend I don't know where to start. Probably with the lawns front and back as they are getting on my wick. I have some seeds to scatter at the front as well which should have gone in by now but am taking a chance.
