This weekend's jobs will consist of painting (garage and fence), weeding front garden and mulching with compost, mowing lawns, moving large pots about (with the aid of a trolley), potting up some new plants, major shopping trip to B&Q, planting out a couple of Roses and several Clematis and no doubt some other bits n bobs.

Not much today as I am feeling hellish; my glass arrived at the local glass works, so I collected that and have whipped the door off the greenhouse, replaced the missing glazing, and put the door back on.

Will do some watering later on, but that is about it. Tomorrow will be a non-starter for me as I have a 16-hour shift, so it will be whatever Mrs C can do if she feels up to having a potter with a trowel.

Built my fence for the bottom of the garden to keep the kids out. Put the first coat on them, but have ran out of paint.

Not sure when I'm going to get them put up though as we are very busy this weekend.

Poking around in the garden at the minute, weeding here and there, urging the plants, potatoes and broad beans to flower, but even in all this sunshine they seem to be holding back... or is it really too soon? Even though we seem to think everything is later this year, the buds have doubled on many of my plants, so it seems a later but even better display is just about to happen. :dancy: Yeah.. I hope!

The nights are still quite cold and the soil is less warm than usual I think,

Well, I mowed my lawns and my neighbour's lawns because they are away on holiday. I then spread lawn feed on them all and watered it in as we're not due rain for a couple of days. I also watered their Hanging Baskets to make sure all was A1. After that checked on the climbing roses by the pond and tied in a lot of stems that were hanging free. My Madame Alfred Carriere climbing rose is looking good with plenty of fat buds on it.:hapfeet: The other 7 I will reserve judgement on:dunno::snork: After that it was a wander through the borders just checking for weeds and found some Nettles with my legs [I was wearing shorts}:gaah: So I took time out for a pot of Earl Grey tea and a quick read of my gardening magazine.:coffee:

Sounds like a well earned cuppa!
We started on clearing the front bed, ready for Jnr Parcheesys sand pit. We are clearing a corner of it, and then tidying the rest up. It meant taking out the overgrown shrubs that have taken over, and we got about half way through. We unearthed a few plants we didn't realise we had too! No idea what they are so will do a separate thread on ID. :)

It's a bit cold out at the moment so thought I would warm up and take a walk round the GC gardens before venturing out.

Planted a Delphinium, a White Perennial Poppy which seemed to take ages due to trying to find a suitable spot and I had to move other plants to do so. I also seem to be carrying around in my pockets long lengths of string so that as I am ambling around the garden I can tie up floppy stems in the borders, plus the 30 - 40 Clematis on either side of the Trellis Entrance are needing to be tied up and trained every day because they are just shooting up inches every day. I've got to find space in the Bog Garden today for the 3 Calla Lilies and the Trollis so that's where I'm heading next.
One problem that has arisen is that the pond water fall pump has failed so I will have to don the Chest Waders for a paddle to check that it hasn't fallen off the submerged mount and got into the sediment and has stopped because it's become choked.........if that isn't the case I'll get a new pump!!:gaah::snork: I try to keep my wading around in the pond to a minimal as it takes a couple of days for the disturbed water to become clear again.
I've also planted up three wall pots with lots of plants and put them in place, a job I've been meaning to do for a week or two.:dunno::snork: I've also got find some spaces for a fair amount of Shasta Daisies that I sowed earlier in the Spring.........more scrabbling around.:snork:
