What Jobs Are We Doing in the Garden Today... MK3.. 2013

Tied up some more Clematis on the Trellis Entrance. Then collected some short canes and went around the borders with the inevitable string in my pocket looking to plants that were flopping or invading other plants space [which happens a lot in my garden]. Fed the roses again with Tomato Feed including those by the pond trying not to get any spilling into the pond. Then I went to the Arbour and started tying up the Alchemist rose on one side and the Compassion rose on the other, plus the six Honeysuckle that are with them. I had a quick look in the Green House and the toms were doing fine so I gave them a water and made myself a mug of tea.

 

I saw one on the way to work the other morning, and yes they are pretty - - the issue I have is that it won't fill these 8 big gaps that I have at the back of the borders.

My only hope now is that I can get sunflowers to play nicely (and quickly) and make up the rest with Malva Zebrina.

The annoying thing is that at least £15 of the vouchers need using shortly, and they have next to nothing in stock - - and certainly nothing that I actually want.

 

Dug out the next ten tomato plants that are off to their new home tomorrow, potted on my cucumbers into their final pots as they were getting pot bound, and sowed some beans and peas for a friend who forgot to get himself any.

I will have to resow some more broad beans as four of mine have been chopped of at soil level, presumably by a slug - not sure if I should resow in pots in the greenhouse, or direct?

 

Not an awful lot from me today - staked and tied in my outdoor tomatoes that were getting battered by the wind, repositioned my veggie/fruit netting that had blown off and secured it down with big bricks, then watered everything in the greenhouse.

My lupin seedlings seem to be doing well, especially considering that I thought I had messed up by not soaking them before sowing:



They will be ready for moving on shortly.

Its earning its keep, that is for sure!
