Planted the Cistus I bought last week along with numerous other plants and I still haven't finished planting out, I hadn't realised how much I'd grown this year. Finished the weeding today and then washed more pots and trays.

Apparently it is Rose 'Golden Showers' which is supposed to be a climbing rose. I best get some garden wire strung across that fence panel in that case!

Thanks for that :blue thumb:. I've been looking to buy a rose in either a yellow or peachy colour....and I wanted a climber so Golden Showers fits the bill. Off for a Google!

Haven't had much time to get out there but, yesterday, I weeded and prepared enough space to erect canes for fifty more bean plants. Now I need to weed paths all round them.

Mrs Shiney did a lot more than me. She has filled two wheelie bins with weeds (a little bit of one of the bins took my weeds).

Yesterday, planted out my peas and beans, put in some supporting canes (which I will thin out as they get bigger and let the peas clamber up through a string maze), and put netting over the framework to keep the dog & birds off, watered them thoroughly with the sprinkler and then put down plenty of slug pellets.

Then, later in the evening it was watering time, as everything was a bit dry thanks to the heat of the day.

Not going to do much other than watering today (back is telling me off again after being on my feet all weekend at work), but today have arranged to give myself a few days off over the weekend so I will be getting ripped into the garden on Friday and Saturday in earnest.

Picking my husband off the lawn- he fell down as he was pruning a big shrub for me.

His glasses shot off his head, the left side of his face hit the deck.

His is ok thankfully. The left side of his face is all mottled under the skin, I think he may be a bit sore tomorrow.

I took over the pruning, and he put in some plants for me.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Sounds as it it could have been a lot worse, liliana, as he could have cut himself on the shrub etc., anyway so long as he's okay :snork:

Well, I watered everything, fed the tomatoes and gave my cucumbers and courgettes some tomato food too (figure it can't hurt?); then I decided to have a shot at the next phase of my strawberry tree, and I learned something......

I treated myself to a hole cutter yesterday, so brought the 1.5m of 110mm pipe into the living room so I could sit on the floor and cut out the holes whilst watching telly. Bad idea.

Firstly, the plastic strands that come off are hot (not good when you are sitting wearing only a pair of shorts, and you have your bare legs in front of you), they cool quickly so they don't hurt, but they are so curly that they stick to you like poo to a blanket, and they are not comfortable!

Then there is the noise - in the end, I cut two out of the planned 40 holes and gave up out of respect for my neighbours; and finally, the mess seems to get everywhere.

Ho hum, you live and learn!

I'll bet you weren't flavour of the month indoors either FC. Unless you'd sent your good lady out to do some "shopping"...;)
