In Spring?, when the windowbox of Tete a tete daffs, and the large square planter of Tete a tete and little Apricot Tulips had finished their fine display, I made the decision to not throw them out( unlike certain TV gardeners who recommend it). They deserved better than that.
So I lifted them, with their compost, onto an empty Growbag and put them at the back of the garage on the floor.
Today, I separated out the bulbs from their dead leaves and scattered the compost around the borders. The bulbs all look fine, plump and happy. When the Summer fuchsias in the windowbox are over, they will be planted up again in new compost. Similarly, the square planter ones will go back as well.
These are hard times - I hate waste and it will be interesting to see what next Spring's display is like.
      I'll let you know,
      Jenny

Mowed the lawn - was almost running up and down as it started to rain - luckily had just finished as the heavens opened - the running didn't do me any good but the lawns are happy with the rain!

Always have done - I went into hairdressing when I left school. In the last 40 years I have only been to the hairdressers 3 times when I was given vouchers for birthdays - hated it each time I went.

Sown some carotts and spring onion. Planted up 4 wooden planters on the patio. Covered my roots bed with netting to stop the squirells digging everything up. Tied up beans and toms. Then spent an hour on the chicken house I am building.

Pull it out. "Volunteers" from earlier years can carry disease which will then spread to others.

Gave the recently planted hedges a light trim of any straggly bits that are growing wider than the hedge will eventually be. The Cooper Beech hedge, planted Spring 2009, had quite a lot of straggly bits to be chopped off which is gratifying - its starting to look like a proper hedge.

Two thirds of the way through making my strawberry tree - holes are cut in the outer pipe, and it is now wrapped in weed suppressant fabric, and slits cut to allow the plants through.

Just having a cuppa before digging the sealant gun out to stick it into place with a large dollop of weatherproof sealant. :coffee:

Here it is before being wrapped:

Sorry Shiney it was peas. I wrote the post after a long hot nightshift. We were working in 48 degree heat at one point last night, it don't half knock you about.
