I agree with Kristen, a RCD is VITAL for ensuring you don't get a new hair style.:hate-shocked::yikes: and that you get to be :old::snork:

No, no RCD and I of all people should know better.:nonofinger:

I was really lucky in that I had the sense to throw the blighter away from me or I could have got stuck to it, and there wasn't a soul home but me.

Jenny namaste - my thumb is 'putting away' as they say where I come from; I've managed to carve a nice V shaped cut right up the middle of the pad of my thumb - still, at least the bleeding has stopped.

No ill effects from my wee charging session either.

What makes the whole thing worse, is the two womenfolk of the house have come home and haven't even noticed that anything has been done!

Actually, FC, AC makes your hand open when you get a shock, while DC will make your hand close around the shorting device............I know as I still have the burn scars in my left palm and fingers from an incident in Aden while in the rif raf a long time ago:gaah:

We will now nag you until you get that RCD:please:

Yes, nurse. I've taken my tablets, and have got a nice long glass of fruit juice at my side (no alcohol tonight, it being a 'school' night.)

We will still nag until we know you're using it!.........I forgot to mention that my "incident" with electricity was when I was repairing a comms machine and a cracked bakelite fitting fell apart in my hand and it was DC current so my hand closed over it. My hand was smoking by the time I managed to pull the fitting away with my other hand. ...........you really don't want that:hate-shocked: .

When I was a kid, my dad had a real bad one - he was cleaning the fish tank out, and with wet hands picked up the lid and in doing so his fingers made contact with the light fittings in the hood; my mum and I came back from visiting a neighbour to find him standing, barefoot on a concrete fireplace, holding onto the hood and unable to let go.

The worst one I had myself wasn't a shock as such, but more of a burn - - I was fitting a stereo to a VW Golf MK1 for a friend, and the wiring was being a tad stubborn to fit in the space allowed - - this was fairly common with the Golf as the radio was right at the top of the dash, with the heating system taking up most of the room below. I shoved my hand up behind the dash to rearrange things from behind, and my watch latched onto a metal fixing on the bulkhead - at the same time, it connected with a live cable (never did work out which one) which turned my metal strapped watch into a very efficient heating element. By the time I wriggled free, I had a lovely burn right around my wrist.

I thought I'd get my front lawn mowed today, looked at the hedge then changed my mind, 80 feet of Escallonia now looking a bit smarter. It's the last time I'll be cutting it - it's too much for me now I hate to say.

Glad you are ok, FC! (Someone was clearly watching over you today).

I had an appointment this morning and today was Mr M's only day off for a fair bit. While I was out, he decided to mow the front and back. All done by the time I returned. :pathd:

Sat having a cuppa on the decking, in his "wisdom" ( or, as Captain M would say: "stupid boy!" :heehee: ) he naively remarked: "I think I'll just take that green and yellow thing out of the pond"

                  :hate-shocked:

Well, that "green and yellow thing" is an iris which has way outgrown its pot and had keeled over with the wind and sheer weight of itself!!! So, I sat back with my coffee and let the entertainment unfold :heehee:

This gardening lark can be such wonderful entertainment, at times :roflol:
