The "deputy nurse" went off to his Pilates class so I put a plastic bag over the boot and got down and dirtied a bit. Couldn't stop smiling - warm, bright sunlight and felt like getting things done. As you can see, useless at downloading correctly but from left to right:
    1) plants removed from the mini greenhouse to take a breath of sunny Spring air.
    2) This is part of the communal garden
    3) This is our little patio
    4) Gloire de Vivre barerooted patio rose planted in alibaba pot.
5)The mini green house with top shelf plants (a bit tall) enjoying the fresh air.

Oh dear Dim, don't think I've got the energy to get round for the spit roast belly pork and that lamb. I'm *n*ck*red!! Just gonna make a cup of tea and sit out in the sun for a while and enjoy this magnificent Spring day.
Boot comes off tomorrow and the pin comes out. Just gotta learn to walk again and then, what larks Pip!!.(Courtesy of Charles Dickens)
Hope lots of you are out in the sun too :hapfeet: :cat-kittyandsmiley::yes::dancy:

      Hi All

What a lovely sunny evening !!

Well I count my self lucky the only two plants that needed some emergency treatment was two of my tree peonies , one branch on each broke and it was the ones without flower buds :dbgrtmb: I have cut back to emerging buds so they should both be ok

Cosmos all up and french marigolds , cougetes doing realy well plus the toms are all about 6 inches high really cobby plants just as I like them at this time of year .

But nothing growing in hanging baskets yet !!!:nonofinger: oh well you cant win them all

On arrival at work, after checking out the gale damage over the weekend (only one large conifer blown down), we set about repairing some minor damage to the surface dressing on a small bridge, caused by flood water coming over the top when the culvert was blocked by debris.
Rest of the day was spent doing as much grass cutting as possible, as it looks as if this may be the only dry day we get this week.

With the plants galloping in the greenhouse I decided to take a chance and put a load outside to harden off. If they survive the night I'm hoping it will slow down the growth a bit until I can get them in the ground. Fingers crossed! :)

Been out in the garden today just to pick up all the debris and plastic pots that had been blown around from yesterday's winds.

Checked everything was ok in the greenhouse and then potted up some Beech seedlings grown from seed collected last autumn.

I then transplanted a pot full of Callistemon seedlings into a medium cell tray.

Tomorrow my Cannas will be potted on in to larger pots.

I've potted up the 1/2 price bulbs I got from Wilkos last week into the flower buckets from Morrisons. Also started some dahlias I've had for a few weeks, they were very dry I hope I haven't left them too long.

Oh TODAY I have been both a naughty boy possibly a thief, and a very good boy Cleaning up the area
About three weeks ago, someone appears to have dumped three wrought iron tables, on the grass in the small woods that runs alongside the houses, two 2' sqr and one 4'x2' all 2' high, along with several bin bags,
So at 01:00 this morning I liberated the tables into my garden
The smaller ones I have placed planters on, and the big one I have placed my containers of carrots on ( thus supposedly above carrot flies flying skills :-)

Next cleared the GH of the decorators paste board, that had my seedling trays on
Turned over the virgin rich soil in its borders, replaced the seedling trays along the hard standing along the edge of the GH
Serious tidy up of my potting shed (my ex blow away gh, that holds, a table with drawers, and on the wrackvarious gardening fertilizers, pearlite, vermiculite, weedkillers, raffia and plant pots
Oh on the bottom, sterile soil, composts, sharp sand etc

Hoed the weeds between the onions and flower borders, then moved various potted plants around to the Sunny front of the house

At 14:30 had to go down to Aunts house, with stuff, where she gave me 30 12" old clay plantpots, and four long tree branch loppers (only I do not have any trees, but Daughter does)
The gardener, got the ride on mower, the shredder, leaf blower, and backpack pressure spray, but only charged her a tenner to change the pantry light bulb :-)

To be fair the Gardener, does lots of other "chargable work" like bringing a gallon of petrol because she forgot to fill the car and the nearest petrol station is five miles away, or called out to fix the door bell batteries
I would normally do this on my weekly visits, only to be honest I am pleased he does it, as I went through this phase with my parents only I was 150 miles away
"Jack can you come" our xxx needs xxx and it becomes wearying on a daily basis
That sounds terrible, I was quite happy to do it, and wish I could still do it now, only it really is wearying and stressful

                Ooops enough for one day

                Jack McH

'Tis a lovely sunny day today and as we've only had a smattering of rain over the past couple of days, I am going to mow the lawn at the front when I get home from work.

The lawn at the back will need a few more dry days before it's ready, so will leave that until the weekend.

I may plant out more plants when I get home, depending on how I feel.
