What a palaver Mr Shiney. That was certainly something you could do without right now. Reminded me of the Christmas Fairy light scenario!:wallbanging: i have a wonky basket out there which I am trying to be in denial about. It'll get to me sooner or later and I will have to straighten it up. Hope things are all going to plan for the Weekend chez vous which I am sure will be a great success,

A bit of watering this evening and that's it.
Had another hectic day at work today, plants for the window baskets arrived yesterday. These are on the first floor of the building so it meant clambering up and down tower scaffolding with compost, plants, tools etc., getting hot and dusty, not to mention being attacked by the huge climbing roses on the wall of the building while we're doing all this. :yikes:
There are plenty of jobs I could do in the garden at home this evening, but I'm kna...... extremely tired, so I'll do the watering and then I'm done for the day. :phew:

well, just went to throw the last few days veg and fruit peelings into the dalek compost bin (this is my 1st own one)

        been doing the 50/50% method (50% cardboard/paper ... and 50% veg/fruit/grass clippings)

lifted the lid and thought there was a fire in there! .... lots of steam .... am well chuffed ....gave it a good mix aswell

I now do the garden at a pub up the road ... I'm going to ask the landlady to give me some veg peelings weekly

day off today, spent the morning taking my son to drama then out in the garden til now. first cut the grass, then noticed i had the beginnings of a wasps nest in the shed so that was destroyed. then dug my other 2 borders, one the length of my garden and a metre or so depth, the other the side of my garage, 16 ft long, 1m wide. i am now knackered!! :snork:

Used all the shower water I'd collected in the water butt. Hopefully the plants will be okay with it. Had to do the rest with a hose. So much easier.

Yesterday I mowed half an acre of lawns which are not easy shapes. Did a lot of tidying up and putting away of things round the garden ready for the hordes at the weekend. Lots of last minute weeding. Collected a marquee and erected it. Watered over 1,000 plants ready for sale. Cleared up around the kitchen ready for the hundreds of teas and cakes to be sorted and did loads of organising.

At 7.30 this morning I had the delivery of tables and chairs, enough for 50 people to sit down. I've been putting those out. Then we have to put the plants for sale on display tables, get the thousand + books out and ready for the book sale, set up other working tables (taking money at the entrance, raffle etc). In between all that I want to trim the edges of all the lawns. We have someone coming to help make sandwiches for all the volunteers (and GC members that are coming:thumbsup: ), I have to go and pick up tea urns, large tea pots, jugs, trays etc, get signs ready and, hopefully, relax for half an hour before going off to the bridge club until 11.30 p.m. :hapydancsmil:

You are amazing Mr Shiney. Try and stretch that chillout to about an hour if you can.

How do you do it Shiney? I feel exhausted just reading what you've done and you're obviously not finished yet. :)

This weekend's jobs will include mowing the lawns, digging a border, attaching some more trellis to the fence because the Clematis montana I planted is growing like mad, moving some large planters around with the aid of my trolley because they are v heavy, pulling up lots of bits of grass where the bird seed has germinated and digging out soil which collects in the crevices where the patio meets the raised bed (nothing is cemented in so the soil 'seeps' out). Oh and watering everything again.

I decided to go shopping on the way home from bridge and get all the makings for Pimms to go with the tea and cakes. We don't normall do alcohol on Open Day but it's going to be hot out there.

This morning I've been making signs to be put up and shall go out soon and put them up. Some have to be hammerd into the verges on the edge of the villages either side of us. The others are for use here. Blue Badge holder signs, signs for all the different things around the garden and things that are going on. I'll put out the police cones, they're surprisingly heavy, and the A-Boards from the charity. I've filled up the tea urns - must remember to turn them on. Flower arrangements for each of the tables have to be put out. Move the cars to someones driveway up the road and then give all the helpers (20 of them) their instructions and await the hordes (I hope). :dbgrtmb:

Well done Mr Shiney - you have worked so hard for all of this. The weather couldn't be better. Just indulge yourself in a bit of " feel good factor".
