Oooh FC.It sounds as if you had a day in Hell out there yesterday. It really is like wading though a Christmas pudding mix this year - and it makes yer legs ache...
Hope today bodes better for you. We must do a tomato comparison again soon.
You and me certainly know how to live FC....

It wasn't great Jenny, but I am soooo happy to see the new fences finally going up, so I can get my plants out before they all die on me - just hope its not too late.

I think I've lost the hollyhock I lifted yesterday (its all limp this morning), but to be fair it was a pretty rough looking thing to start with. One of the lupins looks a bit petulant too, but I am hoping that it will recover after a day of sun and a good feed.

As for the toms, they really aren't doing much at all - I am hoping to see the temperatures go up any time now really, so things get moving. I took the heater out of the polytunnel yesterday, don't want to get everything addicted to too much overnight warmth, and thought I'd better before I went bankrupt!

I'm awaiting a shedload of Bank of England note offcuts. If it all goes to plan, I'll knock up a wadge of fivers and post them up to you,

Been a really, really busy day here - fencing chap came back and finished the job off, and a grand job it is too. As he was doing that, I started to get my plants all planted out into the borders :dancy:

I still have some gazanias, asters and rudbeckia left to find a space for - are they tall plants when fully grown? And then I will have to find space for the 36 perennials that are coming from T&M shortly - I kinda over did it a wee bit (whoopsie!)

Polytunnel is moved back against the fence, which will hopefully give it a bit of protection from the wind, and I removed some more rotten looking leaves from my toms - starting to think I have got a real problem going on there.

I've been away in the Lake District for a week and have just driven the 300 miles back. I then cut all the main lawns (about a quarter of an acre), cut all the edges, rehung all the hanging baskets (had put them on the patio to make it easier for friends to water them), staked and propped up plants that had blown down in the wind, replaced a sweetpea frame that was blown down, collected three large wheelbarrows of tree branches, done a load of weeding and am knackered! :old:

I've got to get a lot more mowing done tomorrow in the wilder part of the garden, where the grass is now over 12" high, as we have some friends from the USA coming on Tuesday. :phew:

Not much done today - plenty to do but I am full of lurgy so not much energy.

I have managed to feed all the Fuchsias and spray my Lonicera Halliana which has powdery mildew.

Had a decent tidy up from the recent hurricane force winds and did a fair bit of staking (bit late yeah I know). Campanula, malva, penstemon, anthemis all got well battered so got plenty of cut flowers for the house. Stated on the chore of turning over the compost but thankfully rain stopped play for the day.
