That would explain why it ate all the Bara Brith Marley brought back from Wales then.

I've done a bit of tidying up and then put a new hardwood garden table together that was delivered yesterday - 6' x 3'. Then dismantled the rotting old one and put it on the bonfire heap all ready for a nice bonfire.

I then oiled the new table and shall put another coat on it tomorrow if I can find the time.

Rain stayed away today, so got the grass cut and finally got around to sowing the winter brassicas. Sprouting broccoli, winter cabbage, cauliflowers and autumn calabrese are all in, along with the wallflowers. :dbgrtmb:

Fortunately the rain has been a positive here rather than a hinderance, living on a peninsula which generally shelves off towards the sea, flooding is not a problem.

So therefore went out and got an Angelonia angustifolia, Dahlia (piccolo series), and Bidens plants from B&Q in a 3 for 5 promotion, planted them before.. all good.. they may even survive the winter!

work today, but did pop to b&q after to see what they had.

bought a hardy gerbera, a black canna and a Brunnera jack frost. planted, watered and fed. tomorrow (if it isn't raining!!) i'll cut the grass, & take a trip to another nursery to pick up a few more plants. i still need to paint the fences but either the weather has not been on my side, or i'm working.

Not the B&Q is Bidston by any chance Al? in that case I probably saw you ! I saw the black cannas but not the Brunneras.

Loads of palms and Cordylines too, and who can not be taken by the scent of Trachelospermum jasminoides.

yes :blue thumb: went at around 7. i was suprised at the poor quality to be honest of a lot of the bedding, seriously not cared for at all. the palms, cordy's, and the tree ferns seemed the best cared for. i only popped in to see if they had any ensette or musa's in, no joy!

I noticed that, I was also looking for Musa, best the go to the garden centres like Gordale for that as they always sell them.

I'm actually going to Homebase tomorrow and they always sell Musa basjoo at some point during the summer, and also Ensetes.

yes, even the tiny tree ferns were 39 quid!! the cannas they had weren't virused (not many tbh, 3 or 4 on the main stand and one or 2 dotted around) they were not watered and leaves were ripped, but i was lucky in getting the only one there in good nick.
