What jobs are we doing today in the garden ?

Found 6 "King Edwards " last week amongst my late husbands things,they felt a bit crispy so I chucked them

 

Went to the GC to get compost, but also ended up getting a Tibouchina urvilleana and a new decorative pot to put it in! Oh.. and a pack of Agastache auratiacum seeds..

 

Theres no such concept of just getting compost,you have to have something to plant in it.

 

Sorry to have to tell you since my O.H. died nearly 5 weeks ago I am up to 30 a day,thats over 70 pounds a week ,Drs app on Tuesday ,patches ,pills anything before it gets too good a grip

 

Ripped out all my lettuce and cabbage as the slugs and snails have abliterated them. Pricked out 60 wall flower seedlings.

After a bad nights sleep I've done nothing in the garden today, so I've been here on GC doing 'armchair' gardening instead. I did manage to take the following pictures though. Plants are blooming at long but I've lost some in this 'orrible weather, so there are gaps to fill.

 

Thank you FC. Most of the plants are annuals that I've grown, so come this winter that bed will be almost naked. I want to fill it with more perennials as time goes on to cut down on the planting out. I'm a grower at heart not a gardener, I also prefer the more traditional plants and I'm not fussed about particular colour schemes either.

There's no reason why you can't do it. Just pick the plants you like and go with it. The only problem I find I have is getting the plants of different height in the right places, it's not until they're fully grown you know where you've gone wrong. Gardening is all trial and error and we learn as we go along.

 

Agree.. love the pinks, oranges and yellows in your garden, give it a real warm flavour. The mix of Lupins and, Nictotiana and Snapdragons does it for me

 

Thanks Armandii and Stephen. The reason you haven't seen any pics is because it's the only bed in my garden at the moment. I've spent eight years since I moved in working to get both front and back gardens under control as they were both neglected. The back garden is a total refurbishment and still not finished and I'm still to start on the front.

Below is a picture looking at where the new bed is now. I'll take more pictures tomorrow, weather permitting, to show you how it all looks.



You can see the telegraph pole in the corner. A path leading to nowhere and the stupid wall surrounding everything that I kept falling over.

 

Sorry to hear about your husband. The only thing that worked for me was an inhaler, because it still gives you that nicotine hit in your throat

I think it looks great. Like the way you've painted the posts as well - I do that too because I hate the concrete bits. Not sure about what the black is gonna look like though.
