There is only one thing that freaks me out, and that is touching the middle toe of my right foot. Even writing this and thinking about it has my toes curling. I really struggle to make myself cut the toe nail. For some odd reason it is very sensitive and raw feeling.

Edit... People and crowded places. This has become much worse over the last few years.

Ok, the way to overcome that is to touch it more frequently (I'm being serious!). I can't begin to imagine how that must frustrate your life (putting on your socks, washing and drying your feet).

It's an on the spot fine Harry. Probably useful when there were plenty of bobbies on the beat, but it's a bit harder to spot when the bobbies are driving around and the litterbugs are walking :heehee:

Heights. Although I'm don't let my irrational fear stop me doing things I want to do. I even went on a terrifying fair ground ride a few weeks ago that used hydraulics to launch us up high enough so that we can clearly see right over the top of the 3 storey buildings in the high street, over to the sea beyond.

Something similar happened to me once. It was bad for weeks or months (it went on so long I just kind of accepted it). Then one day I was watching telly, and it was hot so I had bare feet. I happened to notice that my middle toe on one foot (the one sensitive one) seemed a bit crooked, so I grabbed hold of it, forced it into a position that I thought was about right. There was a very audible click/crunch sound and the pain was instantly gone. And I mean instantly. It was like I'd switched it off or something. Its been ok since and a few years have passed since it happened. I can only think I might have somehow dislocated it and trapped a nerve or something.

.... FLUB!!! Now you come to mention it ... my youngest son has this same issue! For whatever reason, his joints "pop out" and then, "pop in" again.

 Could be something in this!

Letters posted and addressed to me. If they're not hand-written in pen I totally freak out. I often leave them unopened for weeks.

Nothing freaks me out because life is life and I cope with every day as it comes and with all that comes with it ... and here it can be all sorts of what people think are unpleasantries ... ie, giant spiders, snakes, humongous rats, all sorts of everyday life critters.

I am with you on this HarryS ... but more abhorent to me than a plastic drink bottle in your hand permanently is a mobile phone ... :hate-shocked: ... there are apparently more mobile phones in Portugal per capita than any other European country! I even seen old bent over aged people with them stuck to their ears ... how do I manage without one I ask? ... how have I always managed without one I ask? ... Mobile phones are a complete puzzlement to me unless you are a business person on the run, certainly not an everyday 'must have' item. I am obviously well behind the times ... and I hope I stay that way in this respect. :love30:

When I want to speak to my friends, I pick up the old-fashioned telephone (where calls are free throughout Algarve) and make arrangements for a luncheon or whatever, or we use e-mail which all of us have and look at daily.

There is a €100 instant fine here for talking on a mobile whilst in a vehicle.

Bit harsh to fine the passengers!

If a passenger does not have a seat belt on, that is also an immediate €100 fine ... and so it should be!

And for what it's worth, fines by cops here are rather unique. They are instant and you can pay in cash or by credit/debit card ... and are given a receipt as they have mini mobile machines in the car so you know the money is NOT going in the pockets of the police. :dbgrtmb: Oh, I so love third-world countries, so with it!
