:thumb: Yep Walnut, totally agree & yes I also have ad-aware too I had forgotten that one..!:D

;) I really think if you are going to go on the Internet, it is a must.... Whether for just email or to spend time on GC.....;) You really should have some sort of security... If nothing else, to stop you passing a virus to someone else via email.. I think Woo's problem highlights that very well & he did have security..!!!!:thumb:

Together with Firefox I use AVG8 (free) Zone Alarm (Free), now and again I run Spybot S&D but I also have System Mechanic 7 which I paid for.

Not had a virus for over 5 years using the above.

I use norton through my server and it does a great job couple of times i have picked up a virus and norton detects it straight away and kicks in, very pleased with my service, i run it once a week to check my system.
miraflores i would stronly advise to get protection on your pc, a friend of mine did the same and she had all sorts of problems going on when she was on-line

Hi everyone It is a virus that has caused me all my Problems according to the experts that Is my Son and some friends who all work in IT and even build there own towers,so when I said I have just AGV They all said OH that explains it then:confused:,This (not so Wise old Owl) Thought It will not happen to me I have AGV 8 and before that AGV 7.5 ,I started off with Norton but It made my ,PC run so Slow That I changed it to AGV,I religiously defragmented it on a regular Basis Often used System Restore, run a scan everyday ,and would have cleaned it with a toothbrush if I could.:DThank you for all your support.
Please all my friends make sure you have adequate protection :thumb::)

well Firefox is a start to internet protection along with the addon NoScript which prevents all JavaScript and other types of code which could do damage to your PC from running and once your on website you trust you just click a button to white list the site :D

Although to be secure your only really option is to buy yourself a mac (if your loaded...) or use linux :D

    Another vote for Ubuntu here.

"Miraflores don,t take this the wrong way, but Protection is a must when online.Your P.c may slow down because of spyware or a virus[you don,t know] A system restore wont totally cure the problem if there is one"

Migrate to a FREE Linux system and FREE software, it's easier than you think.

A warning to those people on the Free AVG 7.5 . It will no longer be possible to get updates after the 25th June or thereabouts. You can up to the cut off point download AVG 8 Free, but after that date you will have to pay the £39.99 or whatever they are charging for the download.

Well! if they're doing that, then I'm glad I migrated to Ubuntu, installed HP printers, Laserjet 1020 and Photosmart C4280 (with scanner). I am rapidly getting to the stage where I can drop Windows altogether.
The software programs can then go to a jumble sale or charity shop. I shall then change my laptop to Ubuntu (64 bit version). I use the old laptop with Ubuntu for controlling the Epson projector.

I don't know how it compares.
It won't be a leap in the dark, just a leap in the moonlight (probably first or last quarter). Like aircraft, the landing will be the most difficult part.
I'll have to look further into it, maybe sell the laptop, I don't use it much now anyway.
