A bit harsh there Tweaky. :D

We are a very close family and see each other all the time but still enjoy all the family occasions together.

Some people are not like that.
They are not close at all ,these special days give them contact other wise they would have none.

You pick your friends not your family and you shouldn't have to be close if you don't want to.
    For many different reasons.
And I think you should never be made to feel guilty for not wanting to see your family all the time.
After all some families leave a lot to be desired.
Family are not always loved ones.:)

Oop's, well it was a bit tongue in cheek tbh, should have made myself clearer. My weird sense of humour does get me in trouble now and again.

What I should have said on a more serious note, that occasions like Mother's/Fathers day, Christmas, Easter etc, can put a big strain on some families as they do not all have the money, so kids and others can feel guilty on these occasions.

When I was a youngster, we were encouraged at school to 'make' cards, not pay the ridiculous prices these days.

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with a family get together..now that I certainly do encourage.:thumb:

Tweaky dont feel bad ,we know what you meant
sometimes you feel sorry for the kids who dont have a lot
and cant go out and get mums and dads a wee prezzy
its amazing how expensive everything gets when there is a holiday
looming ,some shops can get greedy,
wish I had my dad now ,I would appreciate just a cuddle Kathy x

Kathy you have hit the nail on the head, its not about the kids spending lots of money, I would much rather have a home made card than any shop bought one, its much nicer to get something they have spent a bit of time on.

    I'll second that.
I always had home made cards even if they didn't make one at school.
The arts and craft box would come out and there would be paper glue and glitter everwhere.
    But I wasn't supposed to no.:D

:thumb: Sweeties are nice as well!

I did get a nice expensive card from son #1, on the cover it was full of sentimental rhyme, inside he had torn out the slusshy "I love you Dad" type final verse and drawn a nice picture of me as a gibbon. Ah well it's the thought that counts! :)
