Very cold today, if at about noon time it warms up, will rake out some leaves for about an hour. Then that is it.

-7 outside and no chance of even getting a pick axe let alone a pneumatic breaker into the ground at present. I will wait until after the big thaw perhaps I can then swim the plants to their locations.

Incinerated a load of holly clippings and some old and brittle willow bean poles on Friday. Bagged the ash on Saturday as I'll use it on the fruit trees and bushes later in the Spring. Skimmed the top couple of inches of soil along one side of the polytunnel and replaced it with fresh compost.
Shifted 4 heaps of feline poop off one lawn yesterday, watered the affected/infected areas with Jeyes fluid and then sprinkled cayenne pepper on the favoured areas and set up an ultrasonic moggie repeller.
Had a short but heavy snow shower at tea time today but it didn't lie.

Ive been cleaning pots with algae on them.. my garden is one big pool of algae right now, but the pots look much better. Cutting back frost damaged Cupheas, herbaceous perennials, etc. Nothing much, I'm just waiting for March to May when the seeding will begin, and also the planting (and buying).

Another thing that must be done now actually before I forget is I need to label shelves in the greenhouse their alloted places.. ie seeds, bulbs.. I might even sub-divide them.. the problem is I lost a few bulbs last year.. because I didn't label, or assign them a place!

At last carrot seeds are showing themselves in the greenhouse :yay:

Not much else as repairing bits all round after winds.

Got plenty of seed to sow, but not sure when to really get a move on.

Seems March is going to be a frustrating month, as it seems like a pretty bad cold spell is on the way.. (in terms of long lasting) :gaah:

Rather the cold than the drought we had last year.
Looks like we have to chance it and hope that things pick up later in the year.
Sow little and often to see what does best and then again catch up later in the season.

All my deep beds are ready for this season, dug, raked, and now a fine tilth for seed sowing.
Carrots(early Nantes), Beetroot(Boltardy),Lettuce(Tom Thumb and Webbs Wonder) sown and now waiting for first signs.
Broad beans have been potted on and will soon be ready to go in the open ground.
Swan daisy, African Marigolds, Kochia, and some french marigolds sown too.
Clematis which had been bought on the cheap showing signs of growth so now have potted on to boost the root growth.
