How big is it? Maybe you can just fill with some topsoil and turn it into a bog garden.

I'm with Clueless ref. the Roses. I get cut to shreds each year because OH like 'em. I HATE the damn things. Not because I don't like the show, I'm just a Wus when it cones to losing blood.
I think it would be a good idea to move the Daffs (if thats what they are) in front of the Pieris. They are at their best in the Spring and it looks lost hidden like that. It will grow to fill the space. Mine is looking great at the moment.

Don't know if this will help you, but it worked a treat for me earlier this year, and gave the whole garden a real lift - like nearly every patio in the land, ours was looking a bit grotty even after a going over with the pressure washer (patio is years old); anyway, a friend at work used to be a monumental stonemason, so I asked for his advice, and was shocked at how simple the solution was:

Apply thick bleach neat (supermarket own brand stuff is ideal), and brush over with a hard brush or deck scrubber then leave for half an hour or so before spraying some water on with the hose, then giving a good scrubbing with your brush or scrubber - then, simply hose off.

You will need to be careful that you don't get any on your clothes and don't go walking straight in the house without giving your shoes a good rinsing - and try to get the diluted run off to run to a drain or off into gravel or something as I don't think your plants would like it much.

A builder friend told me about using bleach a few years ago too. I've also discovered some neat bleach on baby dandelions coming up between paviers works better than weedkiller too!

Have you thought of zephirine drouhin? Climber, no thorns & lovely scent.

I don't know whether this seller has what you want but I bought two roses in March from an ebay seller in the Orkneys. I ordered them at 1am on Thursday morning, they were delivered at 8.15 on Friday morning, cheapest roses of that type, cheapest p&p and how much faster could you get them? Flown via two airports and 31 hours from his garden to mine. They're full of leaf now and look great.
