I always grow a few biennial stocks....they tend to flower a little before the wallflowers. I grow large plants as individual specimens to pump out strong perfume from mid winter through to spring.....the whites esp seem most fragrant :)

Just realised I'm totally out of potting compost. Hopefully there will be some shop open where I can get a small bag tomorrow. Or I shall be digging holes in my bed.....

I have, like a good gardener, been bringing the stocks in when it goes dark to stop them freezing. And then putting them back out in the day.

    Except today.

I just came home from shopping to find the dog had pulled them all off the windowsill, eaten half the leaves of each plant and then sicked up the leaves in the middle of the carpet.

    Sigh.

    LauraRoslin....what can I say?
I planted a clematis for my niece last Jan and it was protected against her puppy. It took just one unguarded moment and the whole plant was ripped out.
He is such an adorable puppy so how can we show our displeasure??? :noidea:
    Sigh indeed
