    that's why I suggested he puts it near the bench ... was going to advise him to reverse the sliding door so that it opens on the other side, but thought he would think I'm an idiot, and would most prob settle for something with less hassle and get a bamboo

    tried to lessen the 'blow' so told him these cost less that £10

        Eucalyptus is another that can be kept in a pot and trimmed when it gets to the height you want.

        very good combinations with contrasting colours ... I will try a few next year for indoors
