An hour ago, I was sat on the patio bench with a cuppa and my tame male black bird came gip gip gipping over to me about 5 ft away in a corner of the border.
The next second, a large grey/brown whoosh of feathers and the squawking blackbird struggles up, up and away :phew: followed by a Sparrowhawk that fortunately veered off up over the rooftops,
and I was just sat there - with my cuppa...

Earlier this week I became aware of a tap tap noise at the end of the garden and eventually tracked it down to a blue tit tapping at a mirror on one of the walls. He/she's been at it all week and still hasn't grasped reality.

Mr Woody came along this morning to have a feed
              P1150658.JPG

and he decided to throw some seeds down to his friends on the ground

Later on, I was working near the feeder and this lovely lady wasn't bothered at all. We were only about three or four feet away from each other for about half an hour.

I've started doing some voluntary work in the small Garden Centre in Upton Country Park in Poole but before I started today I went around the woodland (with a small bag of bird food). I put some down and just waited to see what turned up, nothing startling but just enjoyable sitting and watching them.
I've not bothered naming them as you all know what they are, if you don't- shout.

Then you'll know this one too Shiney. I used to recite it.

A muvver was barfin 'er biby one night,
The youngest of ten and a tiny young mite,
The muvver was poor and the biby was thin,
                  Only a skelington covered in skin;

                  etc, etc.

The muvver turned round for the soap orf the rack.
She was only a moment but when she turned back.
The biby 'ad gorn, and in anguish she cried
"Oh where is me biby?" The angels replied

                    Everyone sings the chorus

You biby 'as gorn down the plug'ole
Your biby 'as gorn down the plug.
The poor likkle fing it was so skinny and fin
It aught to been barfed in a jug.

There are lots of verses and people also used to make them up themselves. :)
