Wow Spruce, I love the nightingale's melodies. Have you heard it sing at night by your stretch of river? I am quite envious ....:wub2:

Six-spotted Ladybird in the garden when I unfurled a Pyracantha I bought last year:

          Do they hibernate or something?

Wow a nightingale. I've never seen one let alone heard one. You will be able to listen out for them now Spruce seeing as you can identify their song. :)

I only had a pocket point and shoot camera with me when I went to the plot this afternoon and saw this Hen Harrier on the top of a 20 foot + high Xmas tree. I also guessed the wrong direction it would fly off in! (it was nearly 200 feet away)

Jackdaws are known as part of the Crow family to be thieves. This one (taken through a window today, so not vey clear) and his friends are slowly stealing the compost from my rose bed for nesting. :)

I like their call Sheal. Aren't they handsome?. We have them here too, they nest a few gardens away as there are some large oaks.

Yes Jenny, they are handsome, I like all the crow family they can be quite humourous to watch at times. Have you noticed any mutation in the colouring of birds around you? We have quite a lot here now with pale grey almost silver backs. :)

This year I've spotted four pairs of robins making nests around the garden (usually only three) and one is in a small tree right outside our lounge window. :blue thumb:

The greenfinches are now out in force and I guess there may have been over forty in the willow.

There were also about twenty chaffinches, and three bullfinches, feeding under the bird feeder where one of the pheasants was on the top of the feeder throwing loads of seeds down.

The Fieldfare is now a regular visitor but haven't seen more than one.

I've noticed a pair of collared Doves squeezing their way in and out of a tightly clipped conifer so their nest building is well on the way:dancy: and the nest boxes look busy too....
Every year i promise myself some nest box cameras and still haven't done it:doh:it's too late now.....but that's just reminded me .....a Bat Box and i know just the spot for it:thumbsup:
