Well, there was nothing out of the ordinary on the feeders yesterday, but there was a large number of birds queuing up to grab some lunch.

Lovely shots Woo!! The shots I took in my last post was using the 320mm lens from around 30 yards away on the other side of the garden so I was some distance away and not using a tripod so they were not as close I would have liked.
Anyway, today I had a dinner meeting outside Manchester and so was able to get back home early afternoon. So, trying to be clever, I decided to get within 15 yards of the feeders, with the 320mm lens and use a tripod. I focused on one feeder, put the camera in remote control mode and sat in the Green House waiting for the birds to appear. After a while I decided to check the focus and stepped out and looked through the view finder...and everything was fine. But looking up there are around 8 Long Tailed Tits feeding away only 6' away from me on a Fat Ball feeder. So there I am with a camera set up and focused on a Seed feeder 15 yards away while all the action is taking place only 6' away from me:wallbanging: .........clever thinking, Eh!!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Thank you Armandll my friend ,yes that can be very frustrating, I was using my 55 x 20 DX/VR Nikpn lens its a lovely quality but not quite near enough:) Have been looking at the Sigma 50 x 500 lens for a couple of years now,but the price has never gone down so its still out of my reach:)

Lots of birdies turning up for lunch here, which is good to see - had a visit from this chap today, not seen him before - too big to be a sparrow unless hes got a really big winter coat !

Yours is a Fieldfare, a large Thrush come here to escape the cold in Scandinavia and Continental Europe ha ha!! I think they brought it with them. Watch out for Redwings as well, like a Thrush but with a red feathering on the side, they are often seen together.

Not had much time today to take a lot of pics, but here's the Fat Feeder with Tits on it. Depending on the weather, which doesn't look like being good for a few days!, I'll try to get some shots of it with a cluster of them feeding on it.:snork:

                        Looks good ARMANDII :blue thumb:

We still have all our regular birds and the three families of robins still consider the space around the feeders as neutral land and never squabble there. :)

Since the snow has been on the ground we've had an interesting situation. Every morning we find a pile of snail shells on our, covered, front step. Obviously there is some bird that can't find a hard surface to break them on because of the snow. Quite enterprising of him/her :dbgrtmb:

Not very good photos but there's at least this amount each morning.

Yippee, I have just seen a Barn Owl over the fields again. Been a while since this or another had visited the fields behind the house. A welcome return to what maybe a pair to look out for.
