These weren't the only steps, it was only a 4 mile walk but with the ascents and descents it seemed like 8. It's still my favourite, walk even in winter!

Am I getting unnecessarily panicky? I have made a special effort to look for swifts and swallows over the last week and I have not seen them. Are they just avoiding the S E corner or are have they given UK a miss this year?
And another panic , the cotoneaster is starting to break bud but there are very few bees about compared with previous years.
Am I getting worried for no reason. Please tell me I am, :dunno:

Hi Jenny, the Swifts and Swallows may have re-located up north as I've seen more this year than ever. I agree with you about the bees though, would like to see more of those.

Plenty of Swifts, Swallows and House Martins here but I have seen very few Sand Martins. There have been lots of late arrivals this Spring.

Higher Hyde Nature Reserve early this morning, not many birds about except Blackcaps and Willow Warblers but I did see these.
Sand Lizards, a couple of males this time, this one is finishing shedding it's skin.

I noticed this one seems to have some mites or small ticks by it's foreleg.
