      Lovely pictures everyone! :)

I've just come in from outside, it looks as though the blackbirds nesting in my hedge have chicks at long last. I've just seen dad flying in with a beakful. :)

The ickle babbies have been born:

          and a close up:

          20130606_210515.jpg

I think there's four in total, no noise from them yet though. The mother really gives it some when you're nearby. I quickly scarper!

She pounced on the back of a Magpie the other day whilst a Dunnock, Blackbird and Collared Dove were distracting it. Really a sight to see, just flew in out of nowhere are ripped a few feathers out with it's claws. :thud:

Dragonflies always amaze me - only see them when we have the grandchildren's swimming pool up (don't even want to think they flying over it, dropping eggs in it :yikes:although they must get filtered I suppose) beautiful lacework on their wings though and their big eyes and sweet faces :) .

We also have blackbirds nesting - they get jittery at the sight of a cat or a magpie its almost as if they are calling me for help with their cheep cheep alarm call - I seem to spend part of my day clapping my hands to frighten off the jays/magpies/crows or spraying a jet of hose over the wall to see off the cats. OOh lost the plot or wot ???

I have the opposite problem, sumbody!!! I have several pairs of Blackbirds that come for the Sultanas that I lay at both sides of the main Bird Bath and they will tell the cats off and scold them if they're too close. The cats just retreat or if they're far enough away just ignore them but the Black Birds are definitely the Bosses in my garden.:cat-kittyandsmiley:
