How come some of you fab photographers on this thread (and other threads) don't enter the GC "for fun" photography competitions? There are some cracking photographs here and I'd love to be able to vote for some of your photos to win. :)

Thanks Armandii. There wasn't a glimmer of sun when I took those shots earlier, but it's back. :)

Thanks Jenny. I'm filling the bath as quickly as the starlings empty it at the moment and I'm sure the whole islands population have found their way to my garden. :heehee:

Found a chrysalis the othe day on the side of a flower pot. Knew it'd be a butterfly but not sure which one. I stuck it on a stick and put it in a big bottle. 4 days later I got this :)

It emerged very early in the morning so I missed the chance to witness the transformation :noidea: . The Small White was beautiful ( though its larvae are real pests for lots of garden plants and vegetables) it hung there for quite a long time before it flew off.

A butterfly walk this afternoon on nearby heathland with the Dorset Wildlife Trust.
It was very windy and few were settling. The count came to 12, nearly all have been posted on here except the Small Heath (no pic) and the Grayling which was closed up and totally camouflaged on the path.
