Thanks A. it was taken from the living room window but on full zoom.

HsuH the fact that we have 20+ Sparrows and loads of Starlings surprises me that we don't see them more often, like you it is usually a quick flash and gone.

Based on the colour of feathers we sometimes find on the lawn, "our" sparrowhawk seems to have a taste for collar doves of which we have quite a few. Wish it'd eliminate more of the wood pigeons as well to help to stop them from eating our leafy vegetables:paladin:

I tried practicing my insect photography yesterday, so here are a few bees! bees 009.JPG
I love these pale bumble bees, I think of them as my snow-bees!

I also tried to take a couple of shots of the caterpillars, to show how they change colour as they grow...

they start brown, and then the green bands increase in size!

With us, it's mainly 'What's not Buzzing ......'.

Our pheasants are on their six week annual holiday and Mr Pheasant is likely to return in a couple of weeks (never returns until after the Bank Holiday) with his long tail feathers missing.

What is more unusual is that all our magpies have gone, and so have the Crow family now that their two 'babies' have fledged.

I was a bit concerned, yesterday, about this bee. He didn't appear to be breathing and hadn't moved for about an hour.
                      P1170941.jpg

So I carefully tried to help him
                      P1170942.jpg

And he shook himself but still didn't back out so I levered him up and he flew away :blue thumb:

Mrs Shiney reckoned he was just getting his 'head down'. :heehee:

I was just worried that he might have been 'artichoking'!

I think I might have got a bit close to wasps nest whilst picking blackberries as dozens suddenly appeared and went for my tub, mainly juveniles. Why they were more interested in my blackberries than the hundreds on the bushes I don't know, other than that they are nasty aggressive things.

While out for a walk the other day, this little chappy landed on my stick. There's also been an identical one in the garden over the last few days, flying and hovering very close to me.

I planted Golden Rod in one of the borders and found out that it is a bit of a Thug and will grow rampantly if left alone:hate-shocked: so it's coming out and being planted in a wild corner of the garden.....but the Bees and Hoverflies like it:snork:
